I'm sorry to say that you've lost me right at the beginning when you said his bayonet was out of bullets. XD It's physically impossible for a bayonet to be "out of bullets", being that it's not any kind of firearm.

I dunno ... I thought it was well-written from a writing point-of-view, but that it was badly researched from a history point-of-view.
