amniarix1 6/5/02 . chapter 1Oh yeah, now here's a foundation to work from. I really, really, really like this series of stories, such fascinating characters. Please keep on creating them. |
CreedsGalBirdy 5/26/02 . chapter 1Aww.. you wrote me some more story! Thanks! I do believe my favorite part of this was Fett's contemplativeness (is that a word? and did I spell it correctly?) when he returned to Kamino. You know how I feel about the rain thing. *thumbs up*
Another reviewer mentioned seperating the dream sequence... and I was wondering... maybe it's suppose to LOOK like part of the rest of the fic... so you dont know it's a dream until it over? If it stood out, like say with italics, then you'd atomatically know, going into that first paragraph, "Oh, this part here's just a dream" and it wouldnt have the same impact when he wakens. Right? Or... is that just my crooked thinking? :) |
Maranogh 5/25/02 . chapter 1 Yes yes yes! :) A sequel to Apollo's Bane! Am I the first reviewer? :) It's good to see the Man And His Armor are back in action (although I admit the temptation to peel him out of said armor ;), especially now that we know what he looks like, is irresistable). - You know, those various pasts that authors had conjured up for Boba Fett over the years prior to Episode II, I never liked them much, they simply didn't click with me. But even though Lucas made a few mistakes with Ep II (it certainly isn't perfect), the one thing he did right was the Fetts. From the first time I saw the movie I fell in love with the characters of Jango and his cloned son, against the background of the whole clonetrouper affair. I wish we could have seen more of them. This ruthless bountyhunter and assassin... and yet the one thing he asks for is to have this little child. Something that is his, that will continue when he is gone, someone he can love unconditionally. I think despite of all the weirdness of Boba Fett's youth, Jango was actually a good father. So i hope there will be more Jango and Boba Fett fics in the future, and I can't wait to see your sequel continue. You manage to capture the essence of Boba Fett perfectly. Especially when you wrote how he seemed to take on the persona of The Feared Bountyhunter when he put on his armor, slipping into the role like an actor who has played it for all his life. But to have a counterpoint to all the technology which makes Fett near invincible in combat, one needs to show the man behind the mask, otherwise the myth and the lure of the Mandalorian Armor takes over the whole story. - I admit the first time I read "Quoth Cassandra" (the fic summary, though, made me giggle. Kittens!) and the start of "Apollo's Bane", I wasn't quite sure if the character of Cassandra didn't lean too much into Mary Sue-ishness for my taste, with the various convenient Jedi superpowers she has. But she has enough weaknesses to keep her human. - One last note on "Apollo's Bane: Epilogue": there's yet another dream sequence in there where the reader doesn't know Boba is dreaming until he wakes up, and it becomes a bit confusing. It might work in a movie, but in a story... I don't know, perhaps it's just me. Maybe if you placed the sentence about him sitting in the pilot's seat, sleeping, before the dream sequence, then the "eye of the camera" could sweep towards the Slave I, capture the dozing bounty hunter, his unhappiness and restlessness, followed by a cut to the dream itself. The plot suspense doesn't depend on the reader not knowing that Fett is dreaming, so nothing would be negatively affected. Ok, it's your story. :) - As for a different title... hm, how about "Like Father, like Son"? |
