I really love your Spinner's End universe. I like a few of your other fanfiction too, but this one is really great and has such a nice focus on Severus without Harry overshadowing him. In this one, his and his genius are shining really bright. I hope some day there will be more because he really deserved more recognition and appreciation. And maybe some who loves him and his own progeny.

I've recently discovered your Spinner's End 'verse, and I'm delighted in how well you've captured Snape. The backstory (i.e., "A Place", "Rules of the Table") works to enhance the canon character, while also making him more human. The Spinner's End folks are great - they *should* be canon, darn it! "Sterner Stuff" is a nice look at Snape's activities as a spy, and how the affected one person - Eric's devotion to Snape is well illustrated, as well as his frustration that *no one* else could see beyond the snark to the man underneath. I'd love to see more in this 'verse; say perhaps Snape's "testing" (for lack of a better term) for the 10th Potions Master level? :) Given the fact that Snape is no longer teaching potions, perhaps he'd be ready to look for an apprentice (or two) ...

I love, love, love this world. I read "A Place" first and enjoyed having that background information for "Once a Headmaster." It made Severus's character so much richer. My 'made family' is a group of wonderful, wacky teachers that I work with, too. I like to think that our Severus had that as well. Off to read the inbetween stories now. Thanks for sharing!

You titled this chapter 'Peaceful Repairs' but just one word 'Hope' would have been equally perfect. I kept smiling throughout the chapter! From Minerva waking up late, to her peaceful thoughts, to seeing others as relaxed as hers, to knowing Hogwarts was at last allowing repairs to be made.

In between the smiles and the hope, you cleverly inserted the back story, making us realise how difficult things had been with Hogwarts resisting and being very stubborn, pouting without her leading man, Severus Snape.

I am taking a deep breath and letting it out again. Part of me is worried that Severus isn't at his lab but I'm sure Lady Hogwarts will keep him safe. In the meantime, I'm smiling at Filius' glee and Minerva's smile and Poppy's puzzlement.

Yes! Let's get to work! *rolls up her sleeves and after looking around for her wand, realises she isn't actually a part of the staff* Damn, I thought I was... such is the power of your writing!

Oh I do hope Severus does tell his family about the Wizarding World, I'm sure they'd keep it a secret, as would any of the witches/wizards Severus would allow to visit him. After all, it's just unfair he can't tell his adopted family about the Wizarding World when a Muggleborn's immediate family is allowed to know. Besides I'm sure there has to be provisions in place for the occasion when a Muggleborn/half-blood is adopted by another Muggle family after going to Hogwarts, so that adoptive family would have to know.

Or maybe have the Wizarding World find out that his family-in-truth is wholly Muggle and he's been protecting their existence for nearly twenty years? Or have a Spinner's End child attend Hogwarts and recognise him from teaching their siblings chemistry/working in a butcher's shop/having heard their parents tell them about how Mr. Snape inspired them to go get their PhD etc. etc.?

I just don't want him to have to keep secrets any more. Hell I think he'd even enjoy letting the Wizarding World find out he's the only person behind both RI and ASP. And by 'enjoy' I mean 'feel very smug when people realise he was doing four or five full time jobs at once, most of them without any recognition, and how much good he's actually done the Wizarding World as whole even outside of his job spying'.

But well, if wishes were fishes beggars would feast, so I know not to expect any of that. Love your story though.

Please don't end here! I greatly enjoy your work... it's a very good story!

parker sunk his own ship by unfairly grading the students,

even though Severus overheard the students, he couldn't openly do anything, without the students coming forward and lodging a formal complaint

Eric has made quite an impression the students, if only after two months of teaching they go to him about parker's injustice

Hogwarts is rid of parker and now has a new DADA Professor

parker sure didn't factor for strong cooperation between the Houses

parker might just keep his word and go to the Daily Prophet spewing his lies

Karen and Jacob really adore and look-up-to Severus, they even failed their classes just so that they can be taught in summer school by him

Severus saved Eric all those years ago, and Eric is not about to forget that and let parker spew his lies to him about Severus without standing-up to him

Eric would make an excellent Head of Hufflepuff

Severus had better start looking for a new Defense teacher, so he'll have a replacement when parker holds the post no more

Eric will handle Potions Class effectively, Severus would not to be overly-concerned about his former class
