Well written, good interaction, and sad, she reminds me of a friend of our family who now gone, good background.

Nice story, but I would want to hear more of how it was a mighty struggle for the Federation doctors to cure the cancer. It seemed in the story that they gave up far too easily, especially since Phlox cured a woman of the garden variety cancer in the ENT episode "Terra Nova" and knowledge would have improved over two or three centuries since.

Still, it's nice to hear the family history of "Eppy" Shelby.

This one is rather good, though the books after Restoration put Shelby in an all Starfleet family. It's still a nice read.
