Good piece! I could only wish for such a thing to happen. I don't feel like Odin hated Loki, but he just say the wrong things at the wrong time; not to mention he fell in to Odinsleep at a time Loki needed his reassurance most.

Another fact not too many people know is Comic Book and Mythology Odin is half jotun. Odin's mother Bestla was a Frost Giantess, and former queen of Asgard. Thus making Thor 1/4 frost giant.

I liked to hear what Odin's thoughts were. A lot of people (myself included) kind of see Odin as a bit of a bastard after what he did to Loki in 'Thor'. You have managed to make me re-think that. And that is a rare feat. At first as I read, I thought the story was strange, a little uncharacteristic, especially of Loki, then you had the italicised part be a dream and it all made sense. In fact, the story was 100% better because of it.

Oh, I really like this! I was reading the first part at thinking, okay, it's an AU thing, okay, and then I'm like, wait, Odin feels a little too perfect, and surely if Odin was going to make Loki king also he would have told him, it's not something you really surprise someone with! And then I got to the second part and realized that Odin was imagining a different version of things, as we all so often do (if only I hadn't said *that*!"), and of course when we re-imagine it we think of all the perfect things to say that we never think of in the moment. (At least that's how I took it.) Hopefully Odin has had enough time to think about it to remember to actually use some of those beautiful phrases you wrote for him - Loki as the true treasure he took from Jotunheim, Loki as the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully Odin gets through to him and it's not too late. ;-) The repetition of the "I have not the energy to tell it while standing" line was a nice touch.

Very nicely done! Loki really does behave like a broken child, desperately in need of affirmation. Here Odin is truly taking on a father's role, instead of acting as a lofty god, and handing down dreadful, and scarring punishments. Good work!
