Howlcastle 8/6/12 . chapter 1Firstly, I love how unapologetic this story is - leave your prejudices at the door sort of style, (even though it goes no where very challenging, for which this straight guy is rather relieved lol). Like all your stories, it is so on the nose of everything that is the Monkees, but there was a sort of sweet melancholy to this one. I loved the bit about life being like a butterfly under glass and endings never actually being endings. A sort of momento mori feel of taking everyone and everything with you where ever you go, and I really loved that. Like a nugget of truth in the madness. And yet not at all out of place. Brilliant. Just call me your fan-boy. Cheers, Jamie. |

O'FoggageGreen 6/13/12 . chapter 1I never thought I would ship Micky with anyone. I never thought I would want to read anything with Micky as the main character in a romantic story. Maybe it's just my aversion to his face (I've got no problem with the rest of him) but it just wasn't that appealing of an idea. Well, you can probably tell what's coming: a statement akin to "but you write so well that I fell in love with whatever the hell this ship is called and I will defend them to the death." Except not quite, but good guess! I did in fact like this pairing in spite of myself, and Micky's perspective on it all was what made it so interesting. The theme of living in the now is something I can relate to, and the sort of "well here we are so why not do this" attitude was particularly familar for me. Also, the bonus of Mike going all Papa Bear for Micky was nice ("you can't unread a book"). Great job! (and now I need to hear that song) O'Foggage :) |
