Oh, I love this. So well written and really interesting. I guess I'd like to see Katniss come around somehow, perhaps by Gale reminding her that Madge is actually her friend. I don't know. Anyway, I suppose life has got in the way since your last update. I hope you get around to continuing the story sometime though. It's really good.

I love how you've taken a single line from the novel (Haymitch's line about the strawberries) and woven it into the storyline. Love this story!

I just read all the chapters and I'm very intrigued! It's such an interesting dynamic with Katniss and Peeta as mentors along with Haymitch. I would love for you to continue, I think you're on to something!

The Madge/Katniss friendship was basically a reliance on each other to work on projects together,etc. So this is very true.

"You want to act like an insolent, sulky child, that's fine by me. But you won't be doing your family any favours by forcing them to watch you crash and burn on live television." Haymitch snarls."And you! Stop acting so soft, boy, and act like a damned mentor. You want to get him out alive, letting him get away with his little temper tantrums isn't going to do the trick."

You go Haymitch! He's one of my favorite characters and is depicted perfectly.

"Madge hesitates, trying to recall where she recognises the circular pieces of plastic from."

Are these contacts? I wonder what Cinna'll do with them. He and Portia are so smart. :)

"The lenses darken her irises to a charcoal grey, and if she looks closely, she swears she can see flashes of red where the light hits beauty is cruel. Strong. Killer."

Whoa. Totally not expecting this. I have to give you props because that is one amazing idea. I knew really gave much thought about contacts in the Capitol. They probably had them, or course.

"It's not his fault that he slouches. He's been burdened all his life."

True, very true.

"You okay?" he mutters reassuringly, before realising he's still holding on to her hand. Gale drops it quickly. She doesn't seem to have noticed."

This made me smile. Oh, Gadge is starting already. :)

"She's certainly not on fire, but she's alight. Glowing. Like an ember, born from ashes."

I can almost picture this costume and it looks ah-mazing!

"Instinctively, he grabs Madge tightly before the unthinkable happens, ensuring she won't fall as the chariot begins to roll forward eyes are on him. Including Madge's, for a single bewildered moment that seems unfitting on her ruby-and-charcoal eyes. Gale drops his arms, and glances ahead. Madge follows roars are deafening."

Moments like this make me smile.

"The stocky, muscled boy from District One is already waiting there, his thirty-something-year-old district partner not in sight. His sneer reminds Gale of the merchant kids he used to despise back in Twelve."

He's the one to watch for right? He sort of reminds me of an older, crueler Cato. They both come from the same district.

"Don't play dumb with me, boy. You're not going to get a repeat of last year no matter how hard you try, so drop the act."

What? Why is Haymitch saying this? I'm a bit confused. Eventually I'll figure out the answer.

This story has so many great twists! The adults being up for reaping, Katniss and Peeta as mentors, Madge being the one who brought Darius to Gale's whipping, all fantastic. Can't wait to see where you take this, I'm so enjoying the dynamics in the penthouse. Great job!
