 Radio Free Death 7/22/12 . chapter 1The opening lines are dull and boring. They’re just telling rather than showing (ex. I come in. I brush my teeth. I am seventeen years old) and thus, not at all engaging. Write out numbers. —I help my father because out of the 5 daughters I am the only one who isn't afraid to get my hands dirty on the ranch.— This implies that they must be very well off if they can allow the other girls to not help around the ranch. Owning one is very costly and requires a lot of maintenance to keep running. Also, start a new paragraph when somebody is talking. Otherwise it gets very confusing. Overall, the chapter is very, very dry and devoid of any emotions. The narrator tells rather than shows. There’s no tension. There’s no feelings. |
