I certainly still like it, but I feel as though there is a lot of over emphasis in the writing for this chapter. In the beginning, for example, I think the explanation of the soldiers normal personality was pushed to much. There were two paragraphs on the subject when one was enough. It was a lot better when Mulan came out and Shang reflected on his opinion and experiences, aka, when the explanations came naturally with what's going on in the story. As well, when Shang realized the act of Mulan's good-bye there were a couple of sentences that pushed the point too much. Other than that, I really liked the perspective of Shang's views and opinions of their relationship.

As a first note, I have not read the original version so my review is purely from this draft. I am very excited for the rest of this story! Very nicely written intro, the explanation of previous events and the build up to the rest of the story was very smooth. I prefer these more honest-to-society stories, and it looks like this is really going to bring that to life :)

Oooooh, I SO wish you would continue this story! This is one of the best Mulan fanfics out there, especially since it focuses on the "she's a woman" aspect that was never really elaborated on.
Anywho, I love that the young boy's name is Ping. Absolutely love that little plot twist. Even though I'm sure you have no intention of continuing (seeing as it was updated back in 2012,) it sure would be absolutely fantastic if you did.
