I love this. All the characterisations are excellent, and Belle is perfect. You're right; Rumpelstiltskin definitely wouldn't have loved someone weak. Great piece.

This is perfect, I love it. It's funny, and beautiful, and keeps everyone in character. Their reactions were great, yes, Doctor Whale's was the best. And those details like the tea cups, or Emma talking with Snow. Ok, you get it, I love everything in this story, but it's 3 am where I am, so I'm going to spare you the rambling. Oh, and I was hoping the last line would be great. It didn't disappoint me.

I was hoping for some actual double takes as people saw Belle with Mr. Gold in the show but we got nothing. One person looking all surprised and o.O would have been enough for me. Well we still got Emma, hopefully she won't let me down lol.

I really do love Belle being the take-cage, fear-conquering princess (after taking over fear's kingdom, of course) that she is. I especially love she and Rum upsetting everyone like that, especially after all of that speculation. And then the switching of the tea cups, implying so much familiarity made me giggle. Belle chastising her lover after Hansel's question made me giggle more.
I also have a feeling that, war counsel over, she'll do what she can for Grumpy as much to upset the Blue Meanie as out of a belief in True Love.
The bit about the heart was inspired! You are right, if she could have, it would have made so much sense to steal Belle's and use her against Rum that way.
Btw, regarding the sea witch, is it just me or was the witch in "Brave" pretty much what Ursula would have been if Ursula had good intentions? A name like "Ursula" would even have fit her favorite theme!

This is such a great story. I wanted to go to bed an hour ago (it's 3.15am here...), but then I found the story and just had to read it...
I loved how you characterized Belle. Even though I first had to remind myself that it's the Fairy Tale Land Belle we're talking about, and not the one who's just been released from her psych ward imprisonment.
Even more I loved how you described the relationship between Rumple and Belle; this almost easy love they show. The tea part was so... funny and sweet at the same time! Actually, there were some moments I was laughing out loud (and not only because of Dr. Whale - I can soooo see him react like that, even if maybe not that much ;)).
All the reactions of the others were quite logical as well. Of course, knowing Rumple, no one expects the Dark One to be able to feel true love - or that someone could love him in return. Nice to actually name Beauty and the Beast here; wonder if they'll do that in the show as well at some point.
I think Belle and Rumplestiltskin have such a beautiful, believable love *because* it isn't what one would expect, and I'm very happy that I stumbled over your story, because you catch it all so perfectly.
