This is sort of sad. It's not a Disney-style ending but is probably more realistic.

This story just pulls you in. It makes so much more sense than most of the happy endings, because sometimes this is just the way life goes. I loved it, which suprised me a little. Well done.

This is so poignant and seems very, very real. More than glory, there is duty and Mulan will obey it rather let the ghosts of their ancestors wander - which is so chilling. She carries the weight not only of her family but of the dead.

I share your opinion of the sequel, and I like where you seem to be going with this. And a hint of randomness: the word count for this chapter is 444, which in chinese culture is unlucky because the character for 4 sounds like death.

This was really well written and I liked it very much, but it's so sad because despite saving China, Mulan still conforms into the woman people wanted her to be.
