Aquatic-Idealist 2009-10-29 . chapter 3Only through spreading awareness can one spread compassion throughout the world.
You, my friend, have done just that. This rare disease and those who are tormented by it can have their voices heard through this medium.
I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but thanks for the lesson, and even more for the story to help spread those emotions. Indeed, how can you be an expert of something as cruel as this if you haven't experienced it firsthand (or second-hand, as it were.)?
But, again, thank you. |
pokeshipper409 2009-08-10 . chapter 3This chapter...the fact that the disease ended up taking Ash's life was so heartwrenching. it really made me cry a waterfall...in fact i think this tissue is my new best buddy.
-ahem-
I really can't believe Misty wanted to leave him. It must have been so devastating. It is very unsettling for me that real people actually have to live through these circumstances, (although they might not be pokemon masters xD). When Gary had to break the news to Ash's children that their father died...Oh gosh, their reactions were so genuine. And how Matthew looked like Ash must've been torture for Gary to honestly look in his eyes.
Great story...keep writing 10/10 |
pokeshipper409 2009-08-10 . chapter 2"You can be the voice for those among us who can no longer speak"
that line almost made me cry. its so...deep and heartfelt.
The relationship that you put between Gary and Ash was perfect. I think that if they let their relationship progress in the anime, that would be what it would eventually turn out like.
Its heartbreaking that Ash can't even walk...His poor children. with ciara being so young, i dont think she would remember him very well when he passes away. Its so heartbreaking.
Cant wait for the conclusion x. |
pokeshipper409 2009-08-10 . chapter 1oh my gosh...until reading this story, i've honestly never even heard of this disease before. poor Ash...
I completely agree with you on the subject of "just leaving people to rot in nursing homes" they really are people. i think that this disease, (god bless those affected by it) is one of the worst i've ever heard of. being a complete vegetable with nothing to do but think...
it was a great chapter. cant wait to read how Ash faces this new obstacle in his life. |
-XKajiX- 2009-06-30 . chapter 3This is an absolutely beautiful, bittersweet and heartbreaking piece. It was realistic, and the emotions were so, so genuine. Misty's thoughts of leaving really showed the strain Ash's disease had on the family, and how it must be to have to see one's loved one slowly dying. The fact that Ash wanted to commit suicide, showed how hard it must be to be so helpless... His and Gary's relationship really showed the extents of a strong, genuine friendship. He stayed by him, and continued to be his friend through everything. When he had to break the news to the two kids, I felt my heart break. I really liked how Ash fought until the end, and did his best to spread the awareness of MND. And I've got to say, you've succeeded in spreading the awareness too. :) I had never heard of MND before, and now, thanks to you, I know what it is. Therefore, I'll spread the word too; make people aware. Thank you very much for writing such an amazing, and beautiful story. It was truly inspiring. ^_^

Aiselne Phoenix Nocturnus 2009-05-14 . chapter 3(Overall review) Wow, excellent story. I was especially impressed with Gary's role, and it was great so see him become so close to Ash (considering their past rivalry). The emotion in this story was so genuine that this fanfic easily pulled my heartstrings. Beautifully written and beautiful story, overall. Bravo! |
Doctorman 2009-05-05 . chapter 3It was a good story, i just wish borck was at his funeral. |

PokePikaPal 2008-09-10 . chapter 3wow. i can definitely see why you wanted me to read this. this was a beautiful story. i've never experienced a fanfic with that much detail and reality to death. the words that gary uses to explain to ash's kids are exactly right. i definitely know how real they are. this was excellent, and very heartfelt. i hope that you will be able to write some more soon, but no pressure of course! take it easy—inspiration comes from very unexpected places. |
JbstormburstADV 2007-12-23 . chapter 3OMFG! That is the saddest story ever. I just wanna cry that he had such a horrible disease. If you know this much about it, then maybe you yourself should become an activist for it. I really think that this is your greatest work I've seen as well as the saddest Ash-centric fic out there. I may even create my own version of this (Of course, I'll again mention copywright info). Please, KEEP IT COMING!! *>_ |
Pikachu35 2007-12-14 . chapter 3Oh...my...god. I never knew. I can't believe I had never known about MND until now. YOu would have to be here right now to believe how much I am crying. I did especially hard when Ash's children didn't really seem to understand what was going on. Another beautifly written story, heartbreaking as it may be, and I will always keep it in my heart. |
Kittona 2007-10-25 . chapter 3the story was sad but it was also very good. It's well written and informative. |
rosybell 2007-10-21 . chapter 3It's...been along time since a fanfiction, let alone a story, made me cry. It was just that moving to read this and see him and (his family (if you know what I mean)) go through MND...
*sighs* But, it is well written, and does well to tell people about this disease. Nice job.
