Maybe he's just as self conscious as she is and is thinking he is going to mess it up? I hope he is pulling away from her. I think she needs to voice some of her insecurities and explain what she's feeling she that if he does ever do this again he knows exactly how it is making her feel. NO! Friends with Jake does NOT sound like a possible thing. Especially if she was crying over the box. I get it wasn't so much over him, but maybe having even a little bit of feelings will hurt.
