mandancie 1/1/13 . chapter 1i really enjoyed reading this. :) |
Nana56 8/23/12 . chapter 1*sniff* *sniff* Very touching...and sooooo Dean! It would have been nice for them to settle down and let Dean do what he loved, but there was no way that was going to happen. Very well done! :) |
mainegirlwrites 8/15/12 . chapter 1Darling, thank you so much for letting me know about this story! Yes, I am still actively posting to "The Impala Community" and I'm so pleased to add this to the archive. This is excellent work, and tho I'm not a Dean-girl, wow, the heart strings stretched a bit for the elder Winchester in this story. Thanks again, and best to you, Randee / mainegirlwrites |
elf 8/5/12 . chapter 1 Lovely story! Thanks for sharing it. :) |
ziggy.uk 8/5/12 . chapter 1That was great. You were so inside Dean's head there and got his longing perfectly and the still raw grief at their dad's death that surfaced when talking with Peter. But Sam appearing from the shop and Dean knowing he is still a brother settled him some. Loved this :) |
pandora jazz 8/4/12 . chapter 1I could just picture Dean's face as he showed his 'baby' to Peter. Dean's memories of working with his dad while fixing the car were great. I always thought Dean would have been a mechanic if not a hunter. I loved the final thoughts from Dean, 'his brother, the Impala, the road—this was where Dean truly belonged. Besides, someone needed to have the kid's back—and protecting Sammy, being a big brother? It had always been his most important job.' Thanks for sharing another story with us. I enjoyed reading it. :) |
Ani-maniac494 8/3/12 . chapter 1I loved this fic! :) It's the perfect follow-up to "Five Jobs." I really liked Peter's character as well, and I loved that Dean had a chance to show off the Impala. My heart broke when Dean had to turn Peter's offer down. The back-story was wonderful too - I can so imagine that the time Dean spent with his dad is the reason he loves to work on cars. It offers some more insight into why Dean was so set on working on the Impala after IMTOD. Fantastic work as always! Ani-maniac494 |
irismay42 8/3/12 . chapter 1I really liked the way you showed how the boys' perspectives changed over the course of the first two seasons - Dean being the one craving 'normal' while Sam was all hell-bent on the hunt. It always surprised me that Dean was depicted as a construction worker in his 'normal' life with Lisa at the beginning of season 6 rather than as a mechanic, which would have seemed a much more natural occupation for him to take up (as in the Djinn world in WIAWSNB). I would definitely not suggest that Raelle Tucker - and the rest of us - perhaps know Dean better than Sera Gamble, however! |
mahlia 8/3/12 . chapter 1You and your beautiful writing and amazing stories! Once again I'm sitting here with a wistful smile on my face, thinking about how realistic this is and how well you get inside Dean's head. Thank you so much for continuing to write such great stories and for sharing them with us! :) |
The Lilac Elf of Lothlorien 8/3/12 . chapter 1Nice. I like this a lot. And it's funny how so many stories have Dean becoming a mechanic after he quits hunting. |
Rosetta Brunestud 8/2/12 . chapter 1Aw cute! I love how important the Impala is to Dean, she's such a big a part of the show! I love when someone writes stories more directly related to her somehow :) I really like the whole concept, it's very accurate in Dean's mindset during Season 2. He was such a mess and to think those were the good times and it only got worse and worse... Oh, these boys! Anyway, great story I'd like to think they have other choices in their lives, it's very unfortunate how dangerous it is for hunters to leave the life, especially hunters like Sam and Dean, who have been hunting all their lives. See you next R. |
ccase13 8/2/12 . chapter 1Dean and the Impala are true love at it's finest. |
NewbieOnTheBlock 8/2/12 . chapter 1Awesome one shot. It has nothing to do with plot or story line, it's just a really sweet, really great moment with Dean as he longs for that safe, normal life. Thanks for this one! It was excellent! |
Meggin Lane 8/2/12 . chapter 1If any story could sum up the Winchesters life this one would fill the bill quite nicely. It was great how you used the common thread of car restoration to bring memories of John and Dean's best moments together and tie it in with the temptation of what could have been a very satisfying future for the now Oldest Winchester. And you accomplished this by putting that possible life in the balancing scale with the life Dean now shares with his brother. It was, once the scale was tipped by Dean's role of protective big brother, no contest as to which road he would continue on. But for a brief moment you let us see into Dean's heart and it revealed a man who other wise would have been content to choose a peaceful life, perhaps a home and wife and full of the satisfaction of restoring classic cars to their former splendor instead of the path they're on. |
