I think you're completely right about why he's doing this, even though it's slowly killing him. I just really hope he fixes this soon, because he's wrong to this that distancing himself will make it hurt less if she gets injured or killed. I have faith he'll come around and beg for forgiveness. Yes! That's it! That has to be why Sam did and said what he did to Andy. I just hope when the "stone cold 'super cop'" is back, that he'll go to Andy and tell her he's sorry, that he's an idiot, that he loves her, and beg her to let him back in her life. And, I hope it doesn't take too long for that to happen.
