I really like your insight on the Paul-Ann-Martin triangle. I think Paul does see Ann as marriage material so perhaps thats why he never really tried anything.
Also... at the thought of Howard and Hilda as godparents I had this horrible vision of Hilda knitting three matching sweaters...
