This was good. I always like different perspective son immortality, and this one fit the series/characters well. It does make sense in a way...considering how young both Hiko and Kenshin look when they aren't even related. The style was great.

This is such a COOL idea! I would favorite it if there was more of a plot. Do you intend to continue? The status does not say complete, but you haven't updated in years... I really liked how Hiko was glad that Kenshin was coming wandering with him (lol, "I need a halfway decent sparring partner").

Again, really good. And an interesting explanation for why they both seem so young.

I like immortal stories too :D and the beginning reminds me very much at "highlander"... I like the idea that now both, master and deshi, are wandering through the country protecting the increasingly modernizing society with their ancient sword-style :)

This one is almost begging for a companion piece...

The idea is interesting...

However, the only reason why immortality is so appealing for me in this story is because I never wanted Hiko or Kenshin to die. So knowing that there's a story that has them living on forever is idealistic and nice. It's a double-edged sword because you know that they'll have to live through a bittersweet life, but overall it gives a nice feeling. So thanks for writing this.

i read this a long time ago when i started reading fanfiction... it a story that really moved me... i hate to see kenshin as mortal i bulk at the mere idea... your explination of their lack of ageing though impossible, makes perfect sense... the closeness of the two masters, the mutual respect shines through. though a hard and bitter reality to live so long to see the end of your family line die off one is left with the feeling that kenshin is calm, well adjusted, even happy... this fic leaves this one with a warm fuzzy feeling.

There is a sweetness and a pathos underlying this whole story which is wonderful, not just between Hiko and Kenshin but between Kenshin and his past loves, family and friends. Even though they are in absentia you manage to convey and imply a lot.

Okay, yeah, I really like immortal stories, too. And this is such a good one. I not only liked the characters and your portrayal of them, but I liked the expantion on the idea of why the apprentice kills the master each generation. And I liked the line about how there were stories about the one master who took two centuries to find the right apprentice.

nice.. though i wished there was a sequel.. hhez..
