Reviews for The View From Langley
Genevastar 11/16/12 . chapter 10
Oh dear. Poor Jim :( I actually got quite teary reading that last couple of paragraphs. You really wrote his death quite beautifully - proof of that, it never affected me at all on screen. And this chapter ended just perfectly. A wonderful piece of writing. Well done, indeed! And a very big thank you ... thanks to you I started re-watching series 10 last week!

Thanks for wrapping this up so well. We did have a big yawning gap as to what happened to allow Harry to return to the Grid and how revenge cum justice was meted out to RussiaFirst.

I felt sorry for Jim in the TV series. You're fiction has managed to make me feel even worse - in a good way as it was a marvellously imaginative reconstruction of the story. It almost shadows in a different way the situation with Ruth. Just when they finally got onto the same page/wave length tragedy happens.

Awesome but very sad. Poor jim. If only he and Harry had shared what they each knew. They would have figured it all out. Still, i suppose that was a recurring theme, in the last series, wasnt it? Didn't talk, should have talked... Thanks for sharing this. )

Nice summarization, though I think you may give the CIA a little too much credit for figuring things out quickly. :-) Thanks again for sharing and I hope you continue to write.

I like that you picked up on Coaver taking note of Erin in the hotel the morning of his abduction. Everything else was spot on as well. I'm sad to see this end because it is so well done. Thanks for sharing.

Great end to a brilliant and detailed story. Really enjoyed reading it from start to finish and I loved the way you tied up the outstanding threads in this chapter. Really looking forward to whatever you come up with next

Fantastic look at Jim's last few hours

Wonderful tense finish to this great story. I really enjoyed the different POV. Thanks for sharing

Clever solution to the ending since dead spies can't tell tales. (Or wear plaid, but that's a different issue all together.)
Genevastar 11/13/12 . chapter 9
Aha! So THAT was what was on his laptop! This is wonderful, so detailed, and I, of course, am particularly enthralled by all the Russian background. It's not only Jim's stomach that's tying itself into knots, either! This is all so incredibly, and frighteningly feasible that I often find myself wondering if it might not actually be happening; I know enough about the political situation in Russia to know how plausible it is. You must have spent HOURS of research on this - bravo!

'They were some of the best in the world, and a couple of them had prison records to prove it'. I think that's my favourite remark yet from Jim about his team!

Love every minute of this, it's brilliant!
Sparky75 11/11/12 . chapter 9
Brilliantly detailed chapter and you've provided such a strong back story to the Russian issue as well and tied it in perfectly! If only rather than waiting Jim had picked up the phone and called Harry or someone else able to get through to him! Looking forward to seeing how you finish this given we know what happens to Jim in the very near future!

Another excellent chapter - that you have made this story compelling when the reader (presumably) knows Jim's fate and the backstory you have created from the details available is amazing. I think you should go for a supernatural bent and have Jim continue to tell the story as a ghost watching the events after his death unfold. :-) ok, so maybe that pushes things a bit, but I'm sure you would make it fully believable. Thank you for sharing.
kalabangsilver 11/11/12 . chapter 9
Wonderful chapter as always, rich with detail and explanation. Can't help but feel sorry for Jim however as I know what's going to happen to him. Poor chap. Keep up the amazing work. Silver

Congratulations! You've made series ten make sense. (Which is more than can be said of the writers.). Interested to see how you end it since your narrator is about to buy it.
