Really very good. I have a soft spot for Hugh Fraser's Hastings, but I imagine he would be a bit much to deal with, day after day!

Nice story with an intriguing what if? I liked the way that you showed that Lawrence was unhappy about Cynthia marrying Hastings in the first part of the story. I also liked the way you cleverly used the clues from the novel to make Cynthia realise that Lawrence had been shielding her and was in love with her.
