Not a bad story considering most of them are OCs. In chapter 3, I still don't know why Nireus did not follow Hephaistion to lay the foundation for the new town. I was intrigued because Nireus' reaction when Helenus asked him was quite vague. Maybe you have already stated the reason and I did not realize it *shrugs* I dunno. Don't tell me he stayed because he had to identify the horses...there goes my hope.

I loved this story and can't wait to read the sequal. Also it made me reread Competing for Second Place. Not sure where Narcissus stands on the A/H relatonship.

I loved this fic, your original characters are great; they're usually unobtrusive on the other stories, but in this one you've prove your OC capable of carrying a story on their own. I hope you write another story.

Oh good, I don't come across people of our opinion very often! (My favourite possiblity for Bagoas' characterisation is him and Hephaistion actaully being friedns but as you can imagine that's not a oarticularly popular idea. Haha) I actually haven't read The Persian Boy in its entirety because Bagoas makes me too unhealthily angry (lol) so my opinion of Alexander is confined to Fire From Heaven. I've heard a fair few people hating Renault!Alexander lately and while I didn't hate him and it's actually my favorite book I can sort of understand it. He annoyed me a little as well, mainly in terms of "Who doesn't want to have sex with Hephaistion, like what is wrong with you?" lmao And then he doesn't have the same problems with Bagoas and I never understood what Renault was getting at with that. (As a Phaiander shipper it just made me angry ofc. lol)
Yes, I think it's safe to say Bagoas was definitely more influential than we're led to believe. As Mary Renault discusses in The Nature of Alexander I too think it's safe to infer large amounts of the information we get from Curtius on Darius and the Persian court are straight from Bagoas, and I'm sure he was a valuable source of knowledge for Alexander's Policy of Fusion. Unfortunately for scholars like Tarn the more they insist he was meaningless (or didn't even exist!) the more interested we will become. Same goes for Hephaistion, really. All these homophobic scholars just aren't going to win. ;)
But thank-you for all the other information! I've found it hard to research stuff like this but I hope to put a better effort in one day. As a Classics Major I've got a lot of other Classics stuff to be reading but I might be able to work it into my degree. Haha

So nice to find a new tale from you here ! My apologies for very late R&R. I enjoy your tales of Alexander's pages. You make them very *real*. It feels good to follow them through their lives and their emotional turmoils and troubles. Helenus, Hylas and Narcissus have been in several of your other tales so I of course enjoy meeting them again.

Poor Nireus. He cannot help that his looks are not good. He seems to be a fine person and I hope that he and Helenus will find each other and not care about prejudice in others.
