2009-06-29 . chapter 11
Haha, "Sure, he could be a little eccentric about some things, especially laundry..."

"Kenshin had never apologized for his insensitive behavior back then" Interesting, I hadn't thought of that.

"it was hard to idolize someone who had flaws like everyone else." Good growing-up moment for Yahiko.

Just occurred to me, it's pretty interesting that Yahiko, of a samurai family, is actually higher in social rank than Kenshin, a peasant. Something I'd like to ponder over for a moment...

"While his nature was essentially childlike, he nevertheless carried all of Himura Kenshin’s memories inside him, and so he could be astonishingly clever and manipulative." Heh, I like that. And, "Figures that the only way I can talk to this kid is through the sword. Shinta, you know me far too well."

"His style of teaching was very different from Kaoru’s; he was a lot more patient, for one thing." Haha, I love that.

Man, all this Battousai/Yahiko interaction is way cool. "Seeing Saitou give someone flowers," rofl...

"Do you see a man who has known nothing but the world’s darkness for most of his life?” Poor Kenshin, it's true. Kamiya dojo's good for him.

Shinta tackling Battousai into the laundry tub. SO CUTE! ^_^

"No wonder Hiko-san has no patience with him, if I had to raise a kid like that..." Very, very interesting; I love that idea.

"He's turned you against me." LOL, visions of Star Wars now dancing through my head...

Yanagi actually reminds me more of grief-crazy-Aoshi than Jin-e.

Haha, "You're pretty good at leaving stuff out when you want to hide something, but there's a reason you weren't a spy, ne?"

"The mistake with Tomoe was extremely regrettable" Rather humorous understatement.

Lol, "Getting Kenshin to stay put in a situation like this was like trying to prevent a member of the Shinsengumi from killing an Ishin Shishi."

"so young and eerily beautiful" In the manga, Battousai looks like a little elf-child. R.girl is in love with him. ^^

Heheh, "Sano. Figures."

LOL, "*Battousai glowers at authoress and wonders why she enjoys torturing him so* Because, you're really sexy and cool when you're angry. 'Oh,' he says, and considers the Prosac with interest. 'Okay.'"

(meeting Akari) Oh Battou-chan, you were doing so well, too... ^^; Though I really can't see even Battousai at his most intense wanting to hurt a woman.
Speaking of police, is Saitou going to be able to join in the fun? (hopeful look)

I really like Akari.

Haha, "Just as he felt himself responding to his own calming words, another stray thought shot through his mind, distracting his calm reasoning."

Hee, Battousai doing the laundry is so cute. I like his self-consciously grumpy exchange with Sano.

Lol, maybe with two other sets of hands to help carry all the groceries, Kaoru's monster grocery lists won't be as much of a problem.

Haha, "He's not my brother, he's me!"

The Battousai/Kaoru bits are sweet. Kaoru's handling the whole awkward situation really well.

I don't agree with Sano. Battousai hasn't really mistreated anyone except the rurouni; he's prickly and tense, but not a jerk. Though, haha, that was really funny when Kenshin pointed out the similarities between Sano and Battousai, and the parallel with Zanza. ROFL, "That's right, Saitou has a secret fanclub devoted to me, and the Juppongatta and Enishi are all happy members. They follow me around and pick fights because they think I'm so incredibly nice and cool with my sword."

"He has no self-control because *I* am his self-control." Interesting.

Though I really don't think that Hitokiri Battousai was a jerk. Wishing Akira well in the afterlife after he'd just killed him, saving Tomoe from a bunch of drunks even though he didn't know her, even wanting to kill Jin-e for Kaoru's sake and treating his battle against Saitou with more efficiency than hatred - I just don't see why so many people envision Kenshin and Battousai as almost literally two different people. To me, they are the harder and softer edges of the same nature, not two people in one body. But I know that a lot of people seem to think differently.

Kenshin fighting Battousai. I'll say it's cool!

"Shishou was right about us, you know. We rely too much on reading the opponent." I like that line, that he acknowledges something like that about Hiko.

"He was holding back?!" That line's cool, too.

LOL, poor Shinta, "'Battousai waved at him dismissively. "You can go sleep with Yahiko or something.'"

"Actually, she was pleasantly surprised that there had even been an argument." Interesting, I hadn't thought about that for some reason.

Haha, polyandry.

I like how Shinta has a calming effect on Battousai.

LOL, "Battousai's cooking was exactly the same as Kenshin's (not surprisingly), and quite edible."

"He gets irritated so easily and once he starts reacting, it's like he can't stop himself." I've seen that a lot in the kids I work with. Poor guy. Though it's kind of amusing that he can't sense ki anymore.

Good chapter! I like character development stuff like this.

*gasp* You must write something where Kaoru's personality splits! That would be so funny.

Kenshin, Kenshin, and little Kenshin are _so cute_.

I like Akari, she's cool.

"Yanagi was one of the few men she'd known in her life who actually liked shopping with a woman." I LOVE little character quirks like that, like how Captain Hook likes flowers and playing the harpsichord even though it doesn't have anything to do with the plot. ^_^

Ah, so he's still present-day Kenshin, just split into different bodies.

Way cool, Sano facing Kenshin for the first time after getting to know him. No wonder he's so scared!

Lol, "He had somehow gotten stuck sitting across from Battousai, who mercifully (for Sano anyway) had kept his creepy eyes shut for most of the time."

Man, I've been laughing my head off and squee-ing. I love Shinta and Battousai. Poor kid, "It's so nice not to be sad all the time!" And Battousai's tantrum; he really is still just a teenager. XD

Good move, sending Kaoru after Battousai. That ought to be interesting, though I might not have time to read it tonight.

So "ahou" is worse than "baka"? I didn't know that. I've seen anime characters calling people they respect "ahou," but the way "baka" is used seems more derogatory. I dunno.

Hey, I have a question. When I first started reading this, I thought that the three Kenshins would be as if they'd been taken out of their own times, not simply the same man (with the same memories and stuff) in three bodies. I like reading your version, but I wanted to ask if you'd be okay with me playing around with the other version, in case it works out well enough for me to write it. There'd be a different setup and stuff of course; the only thing from your fic would be the idea of three simultaneously-existing Kenshins. (My characterization of Battousai is also somewhat different.) Would that be all right with you?

Aw, pouting Kenshin. (squee)

Haha, "You never had to wonder if the color of the fish matched your eyes..." Poor Kenshin. I feel the exact same about clothes shopping.

Aw, that's really cute that she made a ribbon out of his old gi.

"Her active housekeeper of a husband would run it into the ground within a week" - I really like the wording of that.

I think that Kenshin has more control over his hitokiri nature than that - the whole point of the first half of the Kyoto arc was to get him to master that part of him. Why would he still be uneasy about it?

Yeah, Sano needs to stick around for a lot of post-Jinchuu fics, I agree with that decision.

Oh, that was great! I read the Inn in Ho(however you spell that), and then this one. Sorry for not reviewing before now, but I was too caught up in the story to stop and type. I think the biggest thing that caught me was that they were all 'Kenshin'. Usually when people split them up, their memories are divided. But Shinta, Battousai and Rurouni all shared their memories. That way we got to see the same person's different sides react, where as in most fics it feels like you have different people reacting. Anyway, that was very well done.

I really like your writing.

BTW, I think "Thursday" should be written.

LOL

But that's just me being deprived.
