Nice to see another story! I like Ivy's personality, and yes, her knowing Alex for a while adds a different dynamic to their relationship. Also, I like the funny little detail of her cat named "Cat" - that also shows that she's matter-of-fact (while I'd say Brigitte is tougher and Demetria more romantic-minded). I guess the plot point about Ivy's engagement (?) to a guy from a rich family is a little bit like your last story, but unlike Brigitte Ivy seems to be rich or at least middle-class, so it isn't the same.
I'd look over word choice at points, just for style and clarity, but otherwise this is a dramatic beginning and I'm interested in reading more. All the best,
