Aww, this was good! Not Byron, maybe, but I thought it was quite lovely. Mind, I am one of the aforementioned people who just laps up anything Gerald/Damien that I can get my hands on... but still, you shouldn't sell yourself short. I thought this was rather beautiful, and I could definitely hear Gerald's voice in the imagery. Looking at the length, though - that must have been the checkout line from Hell!
