There are only a few stories I have read that have fully captured the romance of Maria and Georg,... and you have done it and more! Absolutely beautiful!

Oh my my, what a WONDERFUL story you have written here... must say it is the BEST version of the gazebo scene (and what comes after;) that I have EVER read :D and there have been quit a few attempts to write out this part of the movie. You gave the whole scene new life that I have not found anywhere else. And made Maria's insecurity believable with out overdoing it, (hope you understand what I mean, sometimes it's hard to express what you think and feel, when English is not my first language ;) words can't describe how much I loved reading this story, stopped doing anything else on the computer while reading. I sometimes multitask when reading a story, playing a little facebook game, then reading, then back to game, then read a bit... sorry but that's just how I "work"/read at my computer:/... but your story made me forget it all and I kept reading it ALL in one go ;) :P
I really love the moment they throw the whistles into the lake... marking the beginning of their NEW life together. WELL DONE :D and the proposal at the end, just fantastic... LOVE IT ;)

I thought I had missed a story of yours just before I turned off my computer but turns out that you just posted it up before I logged off! Consequently, I read it in bed. LOVELY WORK!

Okay, so there were just so many things that I loved about this piece... too many to name! But I will list of some of my favorites: Maria and Georg's parallel thoughts throughout the entire thing, just the general theme I felt of their masks being taken away and their true selves revealed, and your different approach to how Georg reveals to the children that Maria will be their mother; it was also wonderful that you put the proposal in! Though we usually assume that Maria agrees to marry him after the gazebo scene, he never does formally ask her, and I love that you wrote it. The scene itself was lovely... in one of Maria's favorite places, nothing too fancy, just perfect and comfortable for her. There were also a lot of great characterization bits that I enjoyed, like Maria jumping around in the study; I could completely imagine that and it made me laugh. I'd have to say that the scene I liked the most was the part when they're talking about how the Baroness left; perhaps strange of me, but you captured their emotions so perfectly in that section - hope, relief, vulnerability - that it just left me stunned.
I'm usually not a big fan of long one shots, but as usual, with your writing I found myself adoring this one. I've read versions of this scene many times, but with the details you added, along with the descriptions of emotion most definitely made this one my favorite. As always, can't wait to read more from you!
