What a great beginning. Feanor and Galadriel would understand each other. There aren't many geniuses in the world. It's a pity that Feanor already has a sinister twist. Galadriel beating up Caranthir was funny. :) Celegorm was dead on when he stopped Finrod from interfering. The companionship that develops between Feanor and Galadriel is quite beautiful. They're both isolated by their powers and genius. Even if they don't talk, it's nice to hang out. As for her swimming, well, Feanor's more attuned to the idea of passions, so I suppose he's the only one to know how much swimming means to her. The contempt for Finarfin's ways is Feanor. Sigh. I don't know if Finarfin misjudges Feanor or not. Probably not in the conventional reading. But I wonder what would have happened if Feanor and Galadriel had been able to get on good terms. Would things still have happened as they had? As for their war of the words, I love verbal warfare. I hope we get to see some of it later on. And I think it's a nice way of incorporating the shibboleth of Feanor. Oh, and a pity Feanor didn't get to visit his childhood room. I wonder what he would've found in the room and in himself. Great story. :)

This was certainly an unusual take in the history of Galadriel. Generally it is assumed that they were bitter enemies from the beginning. But your take on it was very clever and well-written, and I'm excited to see how their hatred for each other will develop.

Wonderful characterizations of Feanor and Galadriel. I also liked your Finarfin-not that much is written about him, and in those cases, he's generally in the background. It seems like there is trouble brewing between the brothers:)

Nice mentions of other, lesser characters. Like the part about Olwe, and Finwe freaking out about his sons. Very nice.

Excellent picture of the two greatest of the Eldar, but the other characters are well-rounded, too. You can see the drama develop and the clashes coming.

I'm happy to see the interest Feanor takes in Finarfin's daughter explained by his wish for a daughter of his own and his admiration for her mental abilities, instead of for her hair and her beauty in general. In a way, I'm glad they started out as almost-friends, and it's a sad thing Finarfin spoils it, though I understand him, too. A nice tangle. I can't wait to read more!

I am impressed! You always write Feanor beautifully, from another angle. You write him as a mere Elf, with different understanding than most people, esp Finarfin. And their friendship is very appropriate. a Fire befriend a fire. in UT it said Galadriel disliked Feanor, but it also held the same truth: A Fire rages to another fire is no more than a fire mingles with another fire). Sweet and lovely.

I like how you portrayed the characters' personalities as close to the canon as possible...or rather as close as what most of us think from the canon. Like the part where the future Queen of Lothlórien kicked Caranthir's bullying butt and her smart-alecky apology. I also like the horrified look on Finrod's face and the part where he almost jumped in...so typical Big Brother thing to do. I hope you continue writing this great story!
