Well-done!
I love this so much. It was a wonderful one shot!
I always wanna know the beginning, and you show every scene of Diego's past in a perfect form.
The university was a real laboratory for the zorro.
XD
Keep writing.

Great read about how Diego and Bernardo met. I also enjoyed reading about Diego's friend Marcos. Wonder what would happen if he'd pop in in Los Angeles ;) Diego has a great sense of justice and loyalty and you really described it brilliantly!

I enjoyed this very interesting story and hope you will write subsequent ones developing the relationship between Diego and Bernado in Madrid.
IcyWaters 11/19/12 . chapter 1
This is a charming look into Diego's life as a student in Madrid. The bartender's quips about his age and his accent really set the stage for the adventure to come. Since Diego grew up on the other side of the world, it's a sharp observation that he would have a different manner of speaking. It's a detail I have not considered before. Very nice!

Your descriptions really bring the atmosphere of the tavern and the alley to life. They transport me back in time into this place filled with passionate, hot-headed young men who are willing to duel the slightest offense to maintain their honor. :-)

The duel between Diego and de BaƱos is filled with heart pounding thrills and laughs. Diego's inner reflections are so pompous! We only ever truly got to see him in Spain in the Tyrone Power movie, so I was picturing a little bit of Ty as I read. You have a knack for mixing the best elements of Guy, Ty and McCulley's original character. Diego under your pen is a joy to tag along with.

The friendship between Diego and Marcos is amazing. The good-natured teasing and the way they will jump to one another's defense at the drop of a pin shows the strong bond they share. These two men truly are brothers in all but blood.

And I cannot forget Bernardo! The idea of him being a beggar on the street breaks my heart, but the near-instant bond he and Diego forged is magnificent. The kindness of the young don and Bernardo coming to his rescue... Simply perfect!

A very interesting story of Diego's early days in Spain and his meeting with Bernardo. It seemed so very much in character for him.

Very nicely done. I hope I will see more Zorro stories from you. Thank you for sharing.

What a splendid account of the meeting of Diego and Bernardo. I love Walt Disney Zorro stories and this is certainly a charming one. It was written in such a manner that I could almost see Guy Williams mischievous smile. This is practically the only tale that I have seen about his university days.
