Kang Xiu 2002-09-17 . chapter 1I crying so hard I can't believe it. Not many people can make me cry, either. This story's going on the favorites list, without a doubt. Suboshi, couldn't you see that he didn't want you to fight? he didn't want war, or killing, or hurt. why did't you stay with him? Why? why.... |
Sansele 2002-09-05 . chapter 1 Um.. just want to say, Frieda, that it's a one-shot fic, and I ain't gonna send nobody to hell or get Seiryuu to do it. And I was speaking from Suboshi's point of view. I don't think he's going to be very sorry... ~_~;;; |
Frieda 2002-08-26 . chapter 1 Crime of passion???? Do any of you really know the meaning of those words??? Crime of passion is something that can happen basically right after a crime is committed against you ,which is the very moment you have seen the crime committed and not after how many days have gone by.For by simple logic, any man or woman would be in a rage if they had seen something bad happen to the ones they love or if they caught their mates cheating on them. But if how many days had gone by it is not considered as crime of passion but premeditated murder. What Suboshi did was akin to premeditated murder for he was bent on planning to get revenge on the Suzaku, except that Nakago had given him a much evil way to get on revenge in which he had enjoyed killing those little innocents. If law had been applied in this case Yui and the rest of the Seiryuu seishi would be given a just reward which is capital punishment. Because whether you like it or not Yui is an accomplice for everything the Seiryuu did. If God's law was applied in here, Yui would surely go to hell. |
shadow priestess 2002-07-30 . chapter 1Aww... nice... no da.... Yeah! Maybe you could set up your one-shots into one big fic. Just so I don't have to keep looking for them and then seeing if you wrote it because I sometimes read by the author... Augh I'm losing my train of thought. Whatever. Write more! |
qkslvr 2002-07-25 . chapter 1well, everyone's supposed to have that "obligatory ep. 33" story, right? though i am yet to do mine...
i wasn't really supposed to read this. the only reason i opened the story was you said there was a note for those who reviewed...so, i was kinda expecting i had one *blush*. BUT! since i opened it already, i decided to go and read...and i wasn't disappointed.
i don't usually read suboshi fics, but this was nicely done. honto ni! *nodnod* so...^_____^ |
Draconsis 2002-07-25 . chapter 1nice job, ele-chan. the reasoning is really good. *nod nod* and not as sappy as some others. |
 KittyLynne 2002-07-25 . chapter 1Hello!
I think this fic is one of, if not *the* best character studies of Suboshi I have ever read.
Although I have never been a Suboshi supporter, I really appreciate that you didn't go the route of portraying him as a homicidal raging maniac and/or obsessed would be lover either. Instead, your characterization is full of subtle nuances that lets the reader draw their own conclusions as to Suboshi's state of mind. Very, very well done!!
Another thing I thought was outstanding about this is the brand new insight you gave me as to another plausible and very likely reason Suboshi ended up chosing Yui over staying with his brother- that it wasn't only because he was in love with Yui, but because he also wanted to honor his duties as a seishi and protect her from all harm- even at the hands of one of her own warriors!
I have to tell you, this is a POV that really set me back on my heels at first...because I had never thought of Suboshi as someone who took being a seishi all that seriously...everything he did I used to think, was motivated by self gain. However, after thinking about it awhile-I think you are completely dead on with that characterization! Suboshi*did* take his seishi duties seriously...even enough to come back in the first OVA when Yui needed him most- and even knowing that he *didn't* have a chance with her. That's a very unselfish act from a character one would be tempted to label as completely selfish (as I had done...but no longer thanks to you! :D
You also deserve kudos for not whitewashing his character as well though. The way you have him dismissing his murder of Tamahome's family is absolutely chilling in its cool but unbalanced rationalization...that his deed was a justified crime of passion (to avenge his brother and Yui.)
To sum up, IMHO, you have neatly captured all the fascinating complexities and contradictions of Suboshi's personality...and shown the utter tragedy of his existence in a very profound way- through Suboshi's own thoughts about his actions. Not only that, you wrote it in prose that sounds exactly like him...an angry, confused, passionate and emotionally unbalanced fifteen year old boy
I felt like I was actually in Suboshi's thoughts when I was reading this.
An outstanding job. You actually made me want to read more about Suboshi-and maybe even possibly write about him myself- which is no mean feat!! ~_^
Thank you very much for writing and posting this story. :)
