In my brief time investigating fanfic on the web, I've noticed that one has to wade through piles of dross before finding gold -- and in your work, I have found it. I love your finesse with language and your strong characterization. Eowyn, Eomer, their relationship: all is as it should be to yield the adults they become. "I said goodbye"... perfect. I look forward to reading more of your work. Have you ever done original fiction, and if so, ever published? If not, you should.

You, I'm a groupie. So what? I adore this deeply; RotK has awoken my love for the Rohirrim all over again. Theoden seems exactly right, and his contrast with Denethor is beautiful. For all that he is king, he is practical, and a horse man, and fiercely fond of his family and his people.
'Denethor Steward of Gondor could take his schedules and his maps and his tedious court etiquette and shove 'em all head-first down a midden. Family came first.'
My heart goes out to little Eomer feeling that responsibility for the Eastmark so heavily, and it was very nice to see something of Theodred. Could I convince you to write a little more about life in Edoras once Eomer and Eowyn have arrived? I don't usually care much for "Characters as children" stories but I do love the setting you've given us here and would love to see more of it.

I'm very impressed. Your characterization of Eomer and Eowyn in a childhood setting was spot-on to their future characters. This story brought tears to my eyes, especially Eowyn's reaction to her mother's coming death. I loved it.
