That's a great story!
That is a lot like Wolves of the Beyond (I think), who is written by the same person who wrote Gaurdians of Ga'Hoole (You may have heard bout the movie), Kathryn Lasky.
In that series, a wolf pup is abandoned, and is raised by a grizzly, Thunderheart, as the pup named her, because of her loud, booming heart that he heard whenever she held him.
The bear names the pup Faolon, Fao meaning River (He was found by Thunderheart in a river) and Wolf, and Lan meaning Gift; River Wolf Gift.
