I also liked the way you focused on one character (presumably Crayak) and integrated the world through him rather than dumping all the worldbuilding on us in one go.

mistrali 12/12/12 . chapter 1 This is absolutely fantastic. It's entirely plausible that Crayak would contact Esplin. The Yeerk's desperation for freedom - and his yearning for power - are very well conveyed. Crayak's refusal to grant them to him is either a sign of another, more twisted plan (in the vein of canonical AlwaysChaoticEvil!Crayak), or a more prudent, foresighted, strategic Crayak than we see in canon. Either way, his character is much more nuanced here than in canon, particularly the bit where he sees his own past in Esplin. I never bought Applegrant's explanation that he wanted to annihilate everything and be sole ruler of the cosmos.
