I know that this story is ancient but I don't know if you still get reviews from it and such. I just had been discussing (arguing) the dilemna of when a were-wolf transforms recently with some of my friends. My opinion was that they changed at sunset/moonrise. And that part of PoA bothered me. It makes me wonder if it was a plot-hole that no one else noticed or if it will be revealed later on. Or if it's something we're supposed to decide for ourselves as readers.

Anyway, the main point: Loved the story (despite it being 6 years old by this point). And I'm sorry if all I did was waste your inbox space. xD

Maybe there are cracks in the windows that he didn't come near? Or maybe he changes in the down stairs bit where there could be cracks for moonlight to enter?
I don't know.
Bloody good fic though!

i liked this story, it was really good written and had an interesting plot. i just wish that sirius would have known about how remus saved his neck from snape (that is a bastard) and the ministry guys.

A very detailed story. An excellent insight into the life and times of Prof Remus J.Lupin

Good one!
Some delightful details spring to mind: The Duck and Daffodil is for example an absolutely charming name for a pub and I also enjoyed the expression "sitting like a lemon"; I'll definitely use that some time.
I can't really say how well I think you portray the characters; they're incredibly believable, Snape is very Snapeish (which is good) and Remus is a right hero in the first chapter, which is the way I see him anyway. As for Sirius, his dark humour for example isn't excaggerated even though it's there, and he's just plain Rowlingish. I also appreciate that you have a proper story, and one which revolves around actual events, which is always nice to read when your head spins with time-turners gone wild. And lastly, the friendship is portrayed beautifully; through actions rather than emotional conversation. Splendid.
And about the state of mind when he transforms; I think that even though he doesn't have his own mind in total control, he can tell the day after whether he's killed something or not. I take it that werewolves aren't exactly careful eaters so there would probably be some blood around it to indicate it. But I think you wrote it very well. I also agree with you on the lack of logics when it comes to the transformation part. I think it's a weak point in PoA (yeah I know; shame on me, PoA is spiffing), because I refuse to believe that clouded weather on full moon nights prevents a werewolf from changing. But I bet people have told you these things before me, in one of the 158 reviews (you lucky writer) ;)

The wolfsbane potion had not been invented yet when Lupin was at Hogwarts as a student using the shrieking shack.

Since the windows are boarded up, he probably transforms when the time comes, whether he sees the full moon or not. The best bet is that he transforms when when the full moon is at the highest point in the sky, and then transforms back when it sets. It's most likely more of a cycle than a visual-stimulation kind of thing.

"that without Snape around, he would have to go back to turning to a werewolf every month."

hmm, but even with the wolfsbane potion, Prof. Lupin will still turn into a werewolf. All the potion does is allow for a less painful transformation and let him keep his mind when he transforms, so he won't harm people (unless he wants to.)

Yes, Lupin's acting skills are great, isn't it? XD *silly grin* despite the minor contradictions with the book, you write very well, please continue.
