Kaoru is the only one that can comfort Kenshin at any time. Sano seems more insightful than normal, but then again, all of the Kenshingumi is like Kenshin. They all like hiding their true selves and emotions. Loved this fic. |

| x Kihana x 2003-06-26 ch 1, | abuseA Moment of Comfort is a very beautiful vignette indeed ^^ I loved how it took place after Kenshin’s fight with Saitoh; I thought a moment of simple solace was needed for both Kaoru and Kenshin following that ordeal and I found it odd that none took place. Your story would have been the perfect moment to ensue between those two and I thank you for writing it. You depicted Kenshin’s sentiments absolutely; it was just like him to tell Kaoru that everything was fine and put on a fake smile to further prove that. I liked how Kaoru saw right through his barrier and that he let her take the barrier down to comfort him. The line, “He had never felt it [comfort] for a long time and it felt so good, almost natural with Kaoru” is so very true—it was natural for him to feel consolation just by her very presence/embrace. What I adored the most about your story was when Kenshin made the unconscious slip of referring to the others as his family ^.~ Kaoru most likely knew that he considered her and the others as his family but it was a sweet moment for her to actually hear him say it. It probably hurt Kaoru though to realize that since he deemed everyone at the dojo his family, how very hard it must have been to leave them for Kyoto… Please keep writing ^^ You do it very well and I can’t wait to read your other Kenshin and Kaoru stories, esp. your longer ones ^^ Keep up the fantastic writing! |
