2003-04-26 . chapter 4
*wails* You...you...KILLED him! No wait, TOLKIEN killed him but you made him real before he killed him! I'm never going to be able to read the books or see the movie without weeping with Theodred's death.

Just pointing out an error I can see:
“How do you fair, Éomer?” Grimbold shouted over the noise of battle.

“Never mind how I fair!” Éomer cried

Shouldn't it be 'fare' instead of 'fair'?

Keep writing! ^^

I really do wish I could write battle scenes like yours. I really do. *wishes**wishes**wishes* I loved it! Do continue! FAST. FASTER THAN ME.

Like your action, like your characterization of Tolkien characters a lot. Not quite so sure about your OC's; the camaraderie was a bit cheesy, I thought. Is there any more of this?

ah!
and when things could not get any worse, the wargs arrive!
but the ending was so sad...poor theodred, even though i knew he was going to die...your writing was extremely moving!

ps. is there going to be any more of this?

great chapter!

love the action...you are able to write it very well, without becoming too complicated, etc.

and when eomer nearly got strangled to death by the orc....*shivers* well done indeed!

another lovely chapter! and a cliffhanger at that!

love the idea of theodred's dream...he is almost like faramir, is he not...love your interprtation of him in this fic

the dream in itself was great....that the eagle is alluding to aragorn, and that he sees frodo with the ring! amazing stuff...

and i love the conversation bettwen eomer, eorlan and thenan....almost had me laughing out loud! it is great that you can move from light-hearted humor to terrifying battles, etc.

I'm so happy that someone wrote a Theodred story! I always liked him (even though he was mentioned in the book for about a sentance...) I always imagined him as being younger though... Oh well >>" Great job!

wow!

an amazing start...you have captured the culture and ways of the rohan perfectly....so you need not worry about sticking to hobbit tales!

you have written eomer's personality and character wonderfully...we do not often see stories on eomer, or anyone from rohan, but from what i have read of this story so far i think you are on the right track

also like the characterization of theodred...all that we ever see of him is in UT, but, as the same with eomer, he was very believeable....i love the idea of him being like faramir in that he has prolific dreams....very well done!

I also enjoyed eomer's thoughts on boromir and faramir...the characters of gondor (mainly boromir, faramir and denethor) are some of my favorite characters so i was very pleased to see them in this fic...and that you wrote them as distinct individuals. And i would have never thought boromir cared much for children! nice little addition there '-)

and speaking of gondor...from what i read of lotr i never knew that rohan and gondor was as close as portrayed in this story...but i thought that it was done very well...also i am not entirely sure wiether those born in rohan could become ranger of ithilien, but then again i have not really looked into the matter

also love the interaction between the soldiers when they stop for the night....very natural and light-hearted! it was a definate pleasure to read that part seeing that i have a strange feeling that things well not continue to go well... i loved hearing about eomer's sleeping habits, because it makes him all the more real and human...nice tough!

also loved the interaction between eomer and eowyn...lovely! i think eowyn is a very hard character to capture, in that most people try to make her too tough and what not, but you did avery good job...

all in all i loved this first chapter!
but... can i expect to see maybe some Faramir and Boromir....or maybe even wormtounge?

snitter

ps. i loved this little fic so much that i had to add it to my favs list. bravo!

Wow, this whole thing is great. I really like your version of the battle. I like the first chapter best I think, but all of them are great! Keep writing this one.

You do realise it's extremely unfair to write a story about one of my favorite characters (Eomer! *huggles*) and then not finish it, don't you?

I'm sure you will, though, and I look forward to it.

It doesn't sound forced at all. The battle scenes are extremely vivid; I liked them. I keep hoping that Theodred will survive, even though I know he's doomed. Update soon -- I'll look for your story!

Hope -- Estel -- Aragorn. I love the dream and its significance, especially compared to Boromir's dream.

I love how you mention that Boromir loves children. Makes him more apt to like hobbits, I suppose. :) It's odd, though...my Theodred has always been young. I like this, though. There are too few Rohan stories on here, and even fewer with the detail you've given yours.

I can't bear that this might be the story of Theodred's death. I've always thought that Tolkien should not have killed the King's son without even giving him a few lines. Your characterization of him his good and I like the brotherly interaction between him and Eomer.
Theodred having that dream is kinda weird. I wonder if beings all over Middle-Earth were haunted by the dream? Keep going. Keep going. Keep going.
