...poor snape...

I want to dance with glee at this one-shot. I have difficulty picturing Snape resorting to a razor (though, for some reason, I can see him using a knife to hack at the Mark, if he were really desperate) or spilling his torment and weakness for Harry Potter of all people to hear, but the suffering he endures smacks of painful truth. I wonder how Dumbledore would react if he knew one of his children was so desperately in pain?

It remindes me much of a pome I wrote once called 'Crimson Edges' but you won't find that here,it's a deeply personal reason I think I liked it so well is because I was in a very similar situation with my boyfriend a little while back. lucky for me he stopped me before I ever actually let the blade pierce my skin.

Wow. That was very, very well written. It was very realistic, which most Snape-self-mutilation fics aren't. I also liked the ending-it couldn't have been any other way. I'm thinking of putting some self-mutilation in the Snapefic I'm currently writing, and this is a good example of how to do it right. (I won't rip you off, scout's honor.) Thank you for writing this!

Properly terse where it should be and descriptive where it should be. I like that there is no easy resolution. At least not yet.

I was really amazed and moved by this story. I have always thought Snape the type to be haunted by his past. I honestly love the character Snape and find him one of the most intense to write. Good Job!

Oh my, that was beautiful. Achingly beautiful. I let out a series of pained gasps when reading it. I felt ill several times, and especially when Snape made his comparison with love. And by the time the story got to the end, I was shivering and felt cold. You created the atmosphere so well!

I find this story very realistic and belive that if Snape truly has reformed (I look forward to reading books 5-7!) this is what he would feel like. For I don't think the demons of his past would leave him alone. He doesn't seem the sort of person who could easily forgive himself. And of course, he would suffer in private. '"I deserve this," he whispered again...'

I suppose the only thing I might have changed, is to use a small thin knife instead of a razor blade. Somehow a razor feels too "modern", considering that wizards in the books tend to be fairly archaic in their methods. But then again, Harry's thought of what Snape would say - 'If you're going to torture yourself try to find something that Muggles aren't so prone to doing.' - made Snape's pain seem all the more terrible. A former muggle torturer succumbing to muggle methods when torturing himself...
