Murakami Sheep 2/9/06 . chapter 4
That was good, excellent even.

You really turned the characters into living, breathing people. Anavel was a driven, confident man in the series, but suffered from a lack of characterization that you provide here. What I see in your writing is a man troubled by the destruction of his country, torn between duty and love. It's beautiful the way that you weave all the small details of how the Zekes responded to their defeat in the OYW into the story, and especially how it affects Gato. If there's ever been one thing that really separated the Federation characters from the Zeon ones is that the Zeon seem so totally devoted to their cause, and that really makes their stories powerful to hear.

I must say, staying up until 3:10AM to read this fic was definitely worth it.
One of the best Gundam 0083 fics I have ever read. I love how you make Gato seem more like a person, rather than the cold, emotionless Ziek that he is portrayed as in the series.
I love how you added little details, and how you make refrence to things in the series like Lucette knowing that Nina and Gato were lovers.
I can't complain about anything is this, except maybe having a mini-chapter telling us how Nina reacts when she finds Gato's side of the bed empty.
If I had to rate this I'd give it five stars, three thumbs up, and a 20 out of 10. I hope we can get more terrific fics out of you!
Sincerly,
Ensign Erasu Uraki
ShadowCell 6/28/03 . chapter 4
Of all the times I would've thought I'd get around to reading this, 2 AM was the furthest from my mind...but, oh well.

Wow. Everything you write seems to be good.

Anavel Gato has got to be one of my favorite characters in Gundam, and he's definitely one of my favorite Zeons. I always found the Kou/Gato/Nina love triangle to be pretty cliche, but this really fleshes out how Gato and Nina got together and just why Nina was so intent on making sure Kou didn't hurt Gato.

Throughout Stardust Memories, Anavel Gato appeared to be just a mindless android programmed to restore Zeon's former glory. This fanfic changes all that and gives Gato a personality—he's a rather unsure man, but he's very gentlemanly, a bit on the self-pitying side and bears extreme loyalty to his country and leaders and friends. His nostalgia when Nina put him in the Zaku, the whole bit with Tetley, and even Gato's gentlemanly nature—which I think he would probably be like during the war, since he was only really portrayed during Operation Stardust in the "mindless android programmed to restore Zeon's former glory" mode—and his loyalty to the Zeon crown and military all make Gato a real, believeable person. It almost makes you forget he pilots a technologically-impossible giant robot...

Nina was attended to just as well. As Ryan put it, her attitude is "distinctly Lunarian," but she does genuinely love Gato. It's expected that she would be angry at Gato's apparent obsession with the One Year War and Zeon, and it's pretty obvious that they didn't go well together anyways. Little details like Nina's job and friends aren't forgotten either, and little details tend to get lesser writers. It almost makes you forget she designs technologically-impossible giant robots...

I really liked the atmosphere of Von Braun City as you portrayed it, as a haven for dejected, defeated, humiliated Zeon troops. And overall, the atmosphere of the Zeon troops reminds me of Vietnam vets—betrayed by home, soldiers of a vicious but losing war, with undying loyalty to a country that turned their backs on them. Sad as it is, the idea is very realistic, since it actually exists, and it's a logical idea. The violence breaking out in Zum City upon Zeon's defeat is sad and unfortunate but also realistic (though I was a bit upset to hear about the deaths of Cecilia and Gihren's cats, being a cat-lover myself, but tis a very tiny qualm that heightens the mood of the fic and it's probably just wussy old me anyways). The Zeon nation looked like a nation in turmoil and defeat—much like post-WWI and post-WWII Germany.

But the fic has its fair share of humor too, mainly between Gato and Kelly—they really are two best friends. Things like Kelly's joke about taking Gato to a whorehouse, Nina returning home to find Monica in her bathrobe, and the "Char Aznable has the social skills of a rhinoceros" joke were funny but realistic, a refreshing departure from all the forced, stereotypical, repetitive humor found elsewhere.

My only complaint is that Chapter 4, as put it, feels like an afterthought and the series felt more concluded at Chapter 3. Oh well...

Final rating: 9.5/10. But only because it's only reached "Very very near Perfect" and not totally "Perfect."

I really liked this story, it really fleashes out things between Gato and Nina. There are some great lines in the story, such as LT. Kelly's remark about taking Gato to a whorehouse.

However, I thought the ending of chapter three made for a much better ending for the series than the ending you used in chapter four. Chapter four almost felt like an after thought. But all in all a great story.

I read at "Fly Gundam" that this was the last chapter. The ending is too sudden! I was waiting all this time for another chapter to come out. I want to see how Nina reacts whan she wakes up and Gato's not there, or have her confront Gato or something.
Ryan 10/31/02 . chapter 4
So Kelly's remaining arm grew stronger to compinsate for the lack of the other one. No wonder Uraki went flying when Kelly hit him. Also the real reason Gato didn't throw Nina out the window; we wouldn't have a show if he did. Nina's attitude at the begining of the chapter is distincly Lunarian, with its neutralist viewpoint. I espically liked the part about Gato's parents, and the letter they sent back to him, showing what life was like for side 3 residents after the OYW.

Duty vs. Love. In this case it is sadly, a no-win senario.
Ryan 10/26/02 . chapter 3
I can't even think of what to say, this was that good. The plot, the detail, everything was surperb. I even noticed you included how Lucette knew about Nina and Gato being together. The interaction with/of actual events that are seen/mentioned on screen is very well done, and is often essential to a fanfic of this nature.

scale of 1-10, 10 high: 9

I just can't seem to visualise Nina calling Gato by his first name: Anavel.
Bulmafox 10/21/02 . chapter 3
I'm glad I chose this as my first 0083 fanfiction. This is exactly what I was looking for.
ladyrissa 10/10/02 . chapter 2
Once again, a VERY good chapter! I have been really enjoying this story! Thanks for writing it!
anon 9/7/02 . chapter 2
I'm enjoying this VERY much! I've always wanted to see a background story on how Nina and Gato ever go together and here it is! VERY good writing! I hope you will keep writing!
