Excellent story!! Now don't let String die!! After all if Jo went to get St. John and did it then String would have a reason to live. Fourth Season isn't considered Canon by most fans so rewrite it! lol :P

It has been a very long time since I've been able to watch Airwolf, but I remember being very disappointed with what little I saw (could stomach) of the last season, and have always preferred to pretend that it didn't exist. You have managed a great story to bridge the vast changes done for the fourth season, and while I still don't like the changes that where made (especially no Archangel!!) you have come up with some sound reasons for character disappearances and filled in many blanks left by the bad TV writing. I especially like what you have added to the character of Cait and the other small touches to round out the minor characters. My only critism is during the search/chase of Li - it seemed to drag, and I still have some difficulty seeing why Jo would consider Rivers trustworthy (though I know that is something that had to be worked in).

Perhaps St. John could bring Stringfellow to Caitlin when he leave the hospital (with help from the Lansings & Doc Gifford)? (yeah, I'm a sucker for happy endings) Some followup would be good. *hint, hint*

A good solid story, with characterization and situations that are very close to the actual show.
I also liked the good stuff about aviation and horses.

Red Rock Mesa was a good Bellisario-ish touch. :)
