So i'm a little confused, this is obviously not the beginning of a story and it says episode seven chapter five up at the top, so the beginning was originally taken off because it had an NC-17 rating, but the site does allow M rated stuff now so could you put it up again maybe. I only just got into Dark Angel a couple weeks ago and I read the whole virtual season and loved it and would really like to read all of this, but your website is down. Is there any way at all I can read this whole season of yours? I really need some Max/Logan, no virus, shipperfic.

These are *BIG* issues for each of them. Saying Max is too "harsh"...?--this reaction was completely in character with the Max as protrayed on S1, and even, in a different light, S2. Logan is *perfect* --after he yells at Max he not only has lost a man, has his work threatened, but he has raled at Max and *has* to be nursing fears of who she is... so what *can* he do but drink away his problems for the moment (the drinking scene, IMHO, is brilliant. Period.)

For any remaining readers who found this "unfulfilling" --it wasn't meant to fit in the fluffy AU of Max being a valley girl and Logan a preppie...it's DARK Angel. Look at the show again, LOOK at the intensity and self defenses of the characters. Then read this again. I tell ya, Willow nailed it.

It appears that this chapter has not been reviewed for about 16 months--but maybe others with stumble upon this review who, like me, weren't around for the first round of reviews. Some of those reviews are intriguing and disturbing enough I wanted to add my 2 cents, so please forgive the indulgence.

This chapter details a "slip" by Max that has grave consequences for an informant and for Eyes Only's credibility. That opens up 2 parallel themes that Willow handled admirably and deftly within the characters *as they were originally conceived* and taken to *logical* growth.

Arguably, this is the most serious event that has happened between them--and their reactions MUST be borne of their own long standing beliefs and responses. Max is the easiest--she was just a kid when thrown out on her own, and she was taught DAILY that self preservation is the name of the game. Willow has it right--her initial realization that she screwed up followed by her tough, "he had it coming" veneer was unconscious armor for the anger and blame she knew she had coming --and hear-- from Logan.

And Logan...his passion, Eyes Only, for a long time the only thing he felt he had left of value to add to the world. Never able to compete w/ Max or other x-5s physically, EO allowed a comparable contribution and he was justifiably proud of it, as well as the long, patient work done to build up the tenuous network on which it relies. Suddenly, his soul mate, the one he adores above all, not only cavalierly forgets to pass on the message that an informant was in danger and NEEDED him, when the worst happens and the man dies, also threatening the life of the net, Max seems to him to barely care about the outcome thereby not only minimizing his best life's work, but a man.

BOTH are driven by these emotional truths and this HAD to happen like this!

What will happen next? It's been forever since your last update.

For some reason, I couldn't review your story on your other site. Thanks very much for the update. I think the clever mix of existing and new characters is one of the greatest strengths of your series. Plus the angst and romance of course. I've always wondered when you'd pick this up again and how the story will unfold. Will Max's insecurities disappear quite so easily? Will she go after the Steelheads? Will Logan learn that he can't always save the world and re-prioritise the hard way?

I miss this story. *sigh*

Okay, I'm embarrassed that it's taken me this long to review...from now on, I promise to review your chapters immediately after reading them, even if it means having to wait a few days to read.
Now, let's see if I can remember what I was going to mention.
I like the way you show the consequences of the informant's death, both on Max/Logan and on the rest of EO's informants. Actually, now that I think about it, having us readers witness one of the conversations with these informants would have driven the point home and made for an interesting scene. :)
Minor note: Methinks Logan would put his wallet in his jacket pocket instead of his backpack. He kept it in his jacket pocket on the show, and keeping it in his backpack would make it easy for thieves to snatch it in the market.
Nice touch, having Max still insecure about Logan's impression of her true nature.
"Thanks. I guess I can be pretty stubborn myself sometimes."
