Lucifer is Not A Name, But A Destination

By spheeris1

Pairing: light implied Draco/Harry

Warnings/Notes: Draco POV, angst, slight dementia

Inspired by something so far from Draco Malfoy that it is almost funny-Akira

My eyes open

And I see the ground.

Open wide and

Taste the mud….

He says so and so I do.

Is this my grave?

I hope so,

For I have lived too long already.

Too much has been

Witnessed, too much has

Been felt.

He says to bury

The pain and so I do.

My eyes tell me

That they would cry…

If only I would stop laughing.

I stepped lightly.

Once.

A long, long time ago.

Before the tree bore

The fruit, before the fruit

Split under my shoe,

Before the juice seeped

Into my veins.

And then, after that,

All I wanted was fire.

But what I received was ice.

Bitter shards slipping

Into my skin.

My skin.

That now shrinks from your touch….

Your touch,

Your fingers,

Your lips.

They burn…like fire.

And still they do

Not dissolve

The tundra.

He says to kill the boy

And so I do.

Kill the boy.

Rip his flesh from the bone

And let his blood fall.

Yet it is my life

That is gone.

I am the one who is dying.

I am the one who is dead.

I am the one being

Torn apart.

'Taste the mud, savor the blood'

Again and again in my

Ears, a melody for children

Who cannot grow from

Saplings to trees.

For boys who want glory

Yet only gain shame.

For sons who can never

Live up to fathers that they fear,

That they love,

That they want to escape.

END
