Okay, just a note to all those who read this.

1- I do not own any characters from the show, however, I do own the kids, the grandma, and any other OC that no one's familiar with.

2- This is my first fic, and I have more written but I don't know if it is worth uploading. Or even completing. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated, even if its just to say it stinks.

3- Oh, and the rating is really just a precaution, there is maybe one scene where it is needed, but I may have more, so just to be on the safe side.

4- Last, I am no good at romance so there will most likely be absolutely none in this.

Otherwise please enjoy. Thank you.

"Grandma, tell us a story. An adventure story. " Exclaimed Jamie.

"No, a romantic story." Protested Amy.

"How about one with action!" Added Carl.

"Now, now kids. I believe that I have the perfect story for everyone. It has adventure, action, and a type of romance. It meets all the requirements for today I believe." The grandmother stated with a very childish, you won't believe this, grin upon her face. The three children saw this and glanced expectantly at each other. They were all waiting for one of the others to ask the next question.

"Who's it about this time Grandma. Is it about your aunt or perhaps your cousin?" Carl asks tentatively. They all knew that Grandma never told stories that weren't true so they were trying to imagine who in her other stories could have a romantic, action packed adventure.

"Actually kids, it's not anyone in my family. As a matter of fact this story takes place long ago during a time of wonder and miracles." The Grandma declared with a very unusual twinkle in her eyes and a smile that seemed to get wider with every word.

"So, if it's not anyone you know, how do you know it's true?" Questions a bewildered Jamie.

"I'll leave that up to you. This story has never been told. I believe that all of you will find it hard to believe. As to how I know." The Grandma paused for a moment taking in the utterly confused faces of her three grandchildren before continuing. "That is not for me to answer."

"I don't get it Grandma. You never told stories about anyone but you're family before. And what do you mean by telling us that 'only we can decide how you know it's true?" Amy blurted out.

"All in good time kids. Just listen. You'll see." With that the grandma started her tale." Imagine a time before the world of today. A time when miracles where part of the everyday.

"Miracles Grandma. There's no such thing as miracles." Complains Carl.

"What do you mean no miracles? I happen to know there are. Now just listen to my story, I want no more interruptions. If one of you does interrupt than I won't tell you the story. Understood."

"Yes Grandma." All three grandchildren said in unison.

"Good. Now where was I? Ah yes, a time of mystery and miracles. At this particular moment two horse riders were speeding across the land in search of help. Each messenger was sent to find one man each. These two men would make all the difference. The first horse rider to reach their person is the one that left second. The man slides off the horse and staggers in a sleepy stupor up to the man he was looking for. He taps the blonde-haired man on the shoulder, but before he can say anything the energetic, blonde warrior turned and greeted the man who had rode all day and all night to find him."

"Yeah." The blonde warrior says. "Can I help you?" Right before the rider can answer him the blonde warrior recognizes him. "Jaxon. What's wrong? You look like you just escaped from a hydra."

"I might as well have. There is big trouble "

'Hold on Jaxon. You need to relax. Listen, the inn I'm staying at is right over there. Why don't you come with me and have a drink, relax so that you can tell me the news without losing your breath."

"It's real urgent..."

"I'm sure it is. But it will take you just as long to tell me while your catching your breath as if you wait just a little while to relax. Okay."

"Fine. I guess." Jaxon stammered. The blonde warrior led Jaxon to the inn. Once Jaxon had quenched his thirst, caught his breath, and relaxed, he sat across from the blonde warrior in the room that the warrior was staying in.

"Okay. Now tell me the urgent news." The blonde warrior voiced with concern.

"All right, Iolaus. Here's what's going on. You remember King Alton." Iolaus nods. "Well, the neighboring kingdom just placed a new king on the throne. Wait, just listen. I know that usually a new king isn't anything to worry about but this one's different. His name is King Phadrion and he has declared to King Alton that if Alton does not give rule of his kingdom to him than he will take it by force. Not only that but he has sent spies and troublemakers into the kingdom. They have been raising havoc. The people demand action. Some have gone so far as to say that they will revolt if Alton doesn't go to war with Phadrion." Jaxon explained as calmly as he could.

Jaxon waited as Iolaus tried to comprehend all the information that had been given to him. As Iolaus took it all in Jaxon held his breath impatiently for Iolaus to break the silence. Finally Iolaus looked Jaxon in the eye, took a deep breath and asked the impending question.

"So Alton sent you to come and ask me to help?"

"Yes. He also sent Kelonor to find Hercules. He knew that the only people who could possibly help would be you and Hercules. Will you help Iolaus?"

"Jaxon." Iolaus said pretending to be hurt. "You should know better than to ask that question. Of course I'll help. Come on. I'll have the innkeeper ready are horses and we can leave immediately."

"Hold on for a second Iolaus. I think we should leave separately. All the way here I felt like I was being followed, but I could never find anyone. Maybe I should leave first and head south a little while longer as if I couldn't find any help here. Then after a half-hour or so you can head for the castle. If anyone was following me, they'll probably follow me leaving you free to travel unhindered."

"It sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Okay, why don't you go get your horse and head back out of town? I'll wait till I think that if anyone's out there they won't be watching me." Jaxon and Iolaus shake hands. As Jaxon is exciting the room Iolaus calls out "Good luck Jaxon. And don't worry. I'll help anyway I can." Jaxon nods, turns and shuts the door as he heads to the stable to retrieve his horse and belongings.

Iolaus waits for a half-hour before heading down to the stables himself. When everything is packed he mounts and heads in the opposite direction that Jaxon had taken. As Iolaus raced across the terrain he failed to notice the horse and rider that followed just out of sight.

Dusk came and went. It wasn't until after dawn that Iolaus stopped to let him and his horse rest. There was something odd about the town he stopped at. No one would look him in the eye, or even answer him when he asked where the local tavern was. After a bit of wandering Iolaus found the tavern. As he walked up to the tavern he attempted to get responses from a few more people. However when no one responded he reached for the door. As he did he did not see the lone pair of eyes that watched concealed beneath a hood and hidden among the townsfolk. Iolaus opened the tavern door and was suddenly blinded by a piercing, almost fluorescent, blue light. The force of this caused Iolaus to fall backwards into unconsciousness.

"Ow ow ow." Iolaus winced as he tried to sit up too quickly. "Man, how do I get myself into these situations. I can't even walk into a tavern." Slowly Iolaus forced his disobedient body to sit up. Once he did though he realized immediately that he wasn't in the town anymore.

"Wait a minute. Why is it so dark? Maybe I'm in a really dark room." Iolaus feels around. When his hand comes into contact with a tree what must have happened hit him full force.

"I'm blind! How in the name of Zeus did this happen." Using the tree for support Iolaus pulled himself to his feet. Once he was standing he started to stumble along. He used the trees as a guide. After a few minutes he heard a loud CRACK!

"What was that? Hello, is anyone there?" He called. He thought he heard someone among the trees, but in his condition he didn't want to go into the woods. Since no one was answering he decided that it was just some animal, ignoring the nagging voice that said otherwise, and carefully he started forward.

Iolaus wanders along the edge of the forest for a lengthy period of time. His already sore and cramped muscles protest to the over exertion Iolaus was now undertaking and they forced Iolaus to stop and rest against the trunk of a tree. Iolaus closes his eyes for a moment. In some way hoping that he would open them and find himself back at the inn before Jaxon had arrived. However, before he was able to test his theory he fell asleep. He awoke a few hours later when he heard the sound of hoof-beats galloping towards him. At least, that's what it sounded like. Iolaus struggled to his feet and stood leaning against the tree as the faint sound grew louder and Iolaus found that he was right, the sound was definitely hoof-beats.

The horse and rider came to an abrupt halt in front of Iolaus.

"Excuse me sir. Would you mind telling me how you came to be here?" The rider asked, stated is a closer description.

"Well, to tell you the truth. I don't know" Iolaus replied cautiously.

"Don't know? How can you not know how you arrived at a place?"

"It's actually quite easy. This sort of thing is always happening to me. But, besides not knowing how I got here, would you mind telling me where here is."

"You mean you don't even know where you are? If you don't know where you are than you must not be from around here. Where are you from?" This question surprised Iolaus. From the sound of the voice the man meant business and was used to people following his orders without any questions. Iolaus decided to play it safe and make up an answer.

"Unless this place is Attica, then no. I'm not from around here."

"You're a long ways from Attica. I'm investigating a strange phenomenon that happened a few hours ago. You wouldn't perhaps of seen anything unusual, would you?" This stranger was beginning to make Iolaus nervous. He really wanted to know who this guy was before he said anything that might get him into more trouble than he already was. He also wanted to know why this guy didn't ask for his name.

"I didn't see anything unusual. As a matter of fact I haven't seen anything for some time now." Iolaus stated warily.

"Really. You're blind? You do a very good job at hiding it. How recent is this condition of yours? Maybe I could help you get to were you were going if it's not too far out of my way."

"I'm not exactly sure how long I have been blind, definitely not more than a half a day. I was on my way to help a friend, though I'm not sure how helpful I can be to him right now."

"Who is this friend of yours? If I know him I can have someone escort you there." Iolaus wasn't so sure that giving this stranger Alton's name would be that good of an idea. Unfortunately, it was the only option he had, so he took a deep breath and told the rider about Alton.

"His name is Alton. He is the King of Bering. He needs some help and advice on the king that just came into power in the neighboring kingdom."

"King Alton you say. He's a friend of yours. I can certainly arrange for you two to meet ..."

"Iolaus. My name's Iolaus."

"Iolaus. Very well, why don't we get started on that reunion of yours?" At this comment Iolaus knew that he had made a disastrous mistake. But before he could run the whistling sound of a whip came to his ears moments before the lash hit and sent a searing pain through his back and body.

Iolaus fell to his knees in shock at the sudden turn of events. Iolaus started to move out of the way but a second hit caused him to stumble. He tried to stand and run, but without his sight he was not sure which way led to the woods. He was almost to his feet when the whip struck for the third time. Iolaus once again found himself on his knees. The fourth strike of the whip came and Iolaus stayed on his knees. When the whip struck for a fifth time, Iolaus didn't resist. He allowed himself to fall to the ground and lay still.

He could hear the rider dismount and walk over to Iolaus. He felt the man's tight grip take his hands and tie them together. Then the rider pulled Iolaus to his feet and forced him to stand. Iolaus swayed a bit but remained upright. He heard the rider remount and then he heard the hoof-beats as the horse started to walk away. After a moment Iolaus felt the sharp tug at his wrists and was pulled along behind the horse and rider.

Iolaus heard the sound of hoof-beats, but to his side he heard another sound. It was like the sound of someone walking. However, he concentrated on remaining standing after a while and forgot about the footsteps. The rider was deep into formulating a plan that would save the trouble of war and therefore did not see or hear the figure in the woods that was watching and following them. And so, the figure in the woods followed silently and unnoticed by both captor and captive.

"Now, Iolaus. Don't make this difficult. I'm not going to hurt Alton. Only take away his land and power, and you're going to help, one way or another. So let's get down to business."

"I don't think so. I won't cooperate with you. No matter what you try." Iolaus stated painfully. Since King Phadrion and him had arrived at the castle, Phadrion had been trying to make Iolaus cooperate and give any extra information on Alton. Iolaus refused to help willingly. The guards had tied his hands and ankles tight enough to cause excruciating pain at the slightest movement. Iolaus was unable to even see what type of room he was in due to his recent 'accident'.

"It would make it easier on everyone Iolaus if you helped me out. That way I would get all the land, power, and possessions that belong to Alton and you and your friends go unharmed. That is, if they value you're life more than their pride."

"Forget it. I won't help an enemy. Especially one as lowdown as you, Phadrion."

"Have it your way then. I can safely assume that you and Alton were pretty good friends. Why else would go to the trouble of sending out someone to specifically find you? No matter, whether or not you're dead or alive when he sees you next will be up to him. Guard, I want you to find five members of my private detail and send them to my chambers. Oh, and take that to one of the cells. I don't want to take any chances."

Iolaus felt strong hands grab his arms and pull him to his feet. The ropes tied to his wrists and ankles rubbed against his already raw skin. Before they were able to pick him up so as to carry him to his cell, they let him fall when they heard something crash to the side. Iolaus could hear feet running towards where the sound had come from. One guard, at least, remained to keep Iolaus from running or being rescued.

"What's going on? What is all that racket?" Phadrion shouted as he ran back into the room. Phadrion was shocked to see Iolaus lying in the middle of the floor with one guard standing over him, and the rest of the guards frantically checking the rooms and adjacent rooms for intruders.

"We heard a crash. I stayed behind to make sure we didn't lose your prisoner and the rest went to investigate. They found a vase that fell and broke, but no signs as to who broke it." Explained the guard by Iolaus.

"Very good. You all did your jobs very well. Next time keep two people over the prisoner, not as easy to be overwhelmed if it's a rescue attempt. For now get him to that cell as quickly as possible."

"Yes sir." All the guards replied.

Iolaus winced as he was picked up and carried, with no regard to his welfare, to his cell. Nothing happened on the way to the cell, but Iolaus couldn't get over the feeling that they were being followed. If they were, who or what was it.

"Here we are, home sweet home. Enjoy it." The guards laughed as they removed Iolaus' bonds and threw him in the cell.

Iolaus waited until he couldn't hear them anymore before dragging himself painfully to the stone bed and pulling himself up onto it. Once he was on it he fell asleep almost instantly.

"Hey, Iolaus. Iolaus wake up. Can you hear me? Come on, wake up. Iolaus." Iolaus awoke to the sound of someone whispering.

"Who is it?"

"Just someone who wants to help. I'm going to head over to Alton's castle and I'm going to let them know about you. However, I need something from you that only you would have so they won't think that they're being tricked. So, do you have anything I could give to them?" The voice was anxious and sounded a little too young for someone trying to play the hero of the day.

" How do I know you're not on Phadrion's side?"

"Do you remember when you first arrived at the woods?" Iolaus nods. "Remember that crack? That was me. The only way I would know that is if I was there right? Is that good enough?"

"It will have to do. Here, take this, it's my medallion. I never take it off, I also would never let anyone think that it could be used to trick my friends." Iolaus tossed the medallion in the direction of the voice.

"Thanks. I'll go tell them the situation. Hang on Iolaus. Help is on the way."

Iolaus heard the person turn and head away from where he was until once again, he was alone in the silence.
