AN:Another one of my little (very little) POV things. Seriously, this is really really short. *sigh* Maybe I should look into something new...like maybe, oh I don't know, creativity? Oh well, I'm not too bad at these, so I'll keep writing them. If you think I own Dragonball Z, then I got a sandbox in Alaska I'd like to sell you...nice and cheap...
The Heart of A Mother
Watching a child grow up.
It is easily the most difficult thing a mother can do. Yet it must happen eventually. No child remains a child forever, as much as we would like them to. I watched you grow up. I worried and fretted over your safety more times than I can count, and I wept when I thought you might be in trouble. But that's just a mother speaking.
Watching you when you were very young remains one of the most joyous times of my life. I remember the way the wind would rustle your dark hair, and your eyes, so joyous and fiery, would close as you leaned into the breeze, pretending you could fly. Little did you know that one day you actually would fly, not just imagining.
Your spirit was inconquerable. You lived for adventure and mischief. The world was an exciting place, just waiting for someone like you to come along and discover it. And you wanted to discover it all. No mountain was too high, no river was too deep, and the greater the challenge or danger, the more appealling it would become to you. More than once, you got yourself into trouble because of that spirit and that spark, but somehow, you always managed to get out of it. I don't know how, but I think you must have inherited that little talent from your father.
And you wanted to learn to fight. I guess I should have seen that coming, with your father being who he was. It amazed me how strong you actually were. Fighting just seemed to be second nature to you; you were a natural at it.
I know I can't be there to guide you through your life. No mother can do that, and no mother can keep her child from growing up. All I can do is watch over you, just as I always have, and just as all mothers do. It is the mother's curse, to end up on the sidelines while our precious babies become adults.
And there is nothing we can do.
The heart of a mother weeps and worries for her children, and yet knows that what will come is inevitable. As you go on through your life, always know that I am watching over you, a mother keeping her silent, unnoticed vigil over the brightest part of her world.
And always remember that I love you, my child.
My beautiful daughter.
AN: Did ya guess it? I'm writing this with the idea that Videl's mother is dead, and watching her daughter from the Otherworld...hey, I wonder if Videl's mother knows Goku? Hmm...that's an intriguing thought...huh...oh well, I'll ponder it later. I hope you enjoyed my very short little tale. G'bye!
