Author's notes: It arrived fully formed from my head just like Athena. There's a vague Greek art metaphor, and I'm counting on Eolivet to catch it. Thanks to Dev for the title and all the feedback. And yes, I do believe the heading is longer than the fic.

"So, did Brass find out?"

No response.

"You sure he still doesn't know?"

Nod.

"When should we tell them?"

No response.

"This is another one of life's riddles, isn't it?"

"No, I think it's just my own riddle this time."

He fiddled with his cup of coffee. Or maybe it was hers, and they had switched by mistake.

We're fluid, like coffee, he thought. Every part of you is a part of me. Even the gap in your teeth. Aristotle would have called that an accident.

"Grissom? Is there something on your mind?"

You mean besides you?

"No," he said.
