This is a reply to the WIKTT challenge of ‘Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man’ challenge on WIKTT. I rate this really low R. Just because I didn’t want to somehow get in trouble. If the rating needs to be lowered just tell me.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or related characters. JKR is a complete genious. I am jealous.
Now, their fourth year of marriage and he was up in the staff room with the other men probably playing multiple rounds of chess.
It wouldn’t have been so bad, but lately, he just wasn’t there. She cried herself to sleep at night waiting for him. But he arrived after she had drifted into her slumber. In the mornings he was always gone before she was awake. She knew he had been there, but he didn’t say a word.
She saw him briefly at meals and when she passed him in the halls she would always give him a brief kiss. Before he continued his journey to his classroom, the library, Albus’ office, wherever he might have been going. Anywhere but her arms. Anywhere but near her at all. That had been going on for aboutthree weeks now. At least before then he had spent time with her.
She remembered back to when she had still lived with her parents. Her father had always remembered anniversaries. Breakfast in bed for mother, dinner in fancy clothes, and a baby-sitter for her, and, though Hermione was too young to realize why at the time, bed an hour early.
Ron always remembered his and Padma’s anniversary, and they hadfour kids to take care of as well. Harry always remembered his and Ginny’s anniversary. Even last year when she was pregnant they had gone to the Bahamas.
She knew Severus was different. He wasn’t like most men. But it didn’t stop her heart from breaking when he forgot things that were so important to her. Her friends had tried to comfort her by explaining that he had never seemed like that romantic of a man. She knew that he could be when he wanted to be, though.
Tears started to fall as she made her way to their dungeon chambers. How had he forgotten again?
She almost tripped down the stairs because of the tears blurring her vision and she stumbled towards the portrait.
"Bloccato Nel Mio Cuore" she whispered and the door swung open. It was dark as usual when she looked in. But as she stepped through millions of candle magically lit themselves.
She gasped and looked around.
There was a silk blanket spread out on the floor in front of the fire place. A vase full of silver roses were on the coffee table with a bottle of, probably the best wine imaginable. The door closed behind her with a soft click and music began to softly play.
There was gentle singing coming from behind her and she spun around, but did not find the source of the singing.
"Severus?" she whispered. She couldn’t believe this. She spun again as he again started to sing. It was one of her favorite songs, Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man. She slowly moved toward the fireplace which was Severus seemed to be. Arms circled her waist from behind and the singing continued.
"Severus." She whispered again. But a finger was placed gently on her lips and she kissed it as the singing continued.
He lowered her onto the silk blanket and rolled her on her side. He laid down beside her propped up on one arm, the other resting on her hip. She put her arms around him the best she could, as long as she was touching him, feeling to make sure he was really there.
He slowly leaned down and brushed his lips against hers, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss a bit before pulling back and continuing with the song.
"Oh, Sev." But he again placed his finger on her lips.
He slowly started to unbutton her robes, and she his. But when she had unbuttoned the top few she realized that he must have carefully planned all this as he was wearing nothing underneath.
He kissed her everywhere, but her lips. But continued singing as he went.
Tears were pouring down her face again. Though this time not from being sad, but for how sweet and romantic her husband was being. All the thoughts she had had early had vanished, and he was all that mattered at the moment.
Because they were all that were important. She was content. Feeling his skin against hers. The feeling had not changed from the first time they had been together.
“I am sorry I have been such a prat, love.”
She shook her head and looked at him, tears still fresh in her eyes. “It doesn’t matter.”
“Of course it does. I have been no sort of husband to you.”
“Let’s not talk now,” she whispered, not quite able to believe what he was saying.
And even if tomorrow, he went back to his work. They had shared tonight. He had after all remembered. And all other thoughts were banished. All she wanted to think about now was Severus, and the amazing love she had for him. The love that would never change.
