QUIET WINDS

*Baby D* Series

*Dyonan* © (I own the character Dyonan but DO NOT HAVE OWNERSHIP of any other Lord of the Rings characters.)

(Because of the use of Elvish, some translations are beneath the phrase…)

*Mankoi*

"What'll we do then?" Merry looked shocked at Aragorn.

"We head on," he straightened his clothes and headed back for the shore.

Legolas did not stop until he reached Rivendell. Night and day he ran, over hills and through valleys until he came to its massive gates. Arwen was on the balcony when he arrived. When she saw him, she quickly ran down to meet him.

"Legolas, mankoi naa lle sinome?" He stopped, not even out of breath.

("Legolas, why are you here?")

"She's been hurt," he reached into his bag and took her out, unwrapping her wounds to show Arwen.

"We must take her to my father," she hurried off to find him, but he was not very far away.

"What happened?" Elrond appeared from another room.

"Lord Elrond, Dyonan has been injured," he held her up for him to see. Without a word to him, Elrond took Dyonan from his hands and started for her room.

"Arwen, water, clothes and cloths to her room," he instructed without even looking at her. They both left the room with Legolas standing, left behind.

"What's the commotion, have you found her?" Bilbo came into the room.

"The orcs took her wings and left her for dead." Anger and resentment could be heard in his voice.

"Where is she now?"

"Lord Elrond is tending to her," he looked down at the old Hobbit.

"Well why are you standing here? Come my boy," Bilbo led him up to the room. As they reached the door, Arwen was going in to join her father.

"It's best if you stay out here," she told them as she opened the door and closed it behind her.

"Her pendant," Legolas remembered, taking it out of the bag.

"Oh no boy, this is something she must do on her own, without magic. It's the only way."

In the room, Elrond had managed to wake Dyonan. She lay struggling to keep her eyes open, but for the throbbing in her back.

"Dyonan, you must change, you can not stay small if you wish to heal," Arwen coaxed her on the bed. Dyonan tossed and turned, growling under her breath. She fought the pain that ran through her. "Bragol alaa!" As the words left Arwen's mouth, Dyonan let out another shattering scream.

"Mani marte!" Legolas yelled angrily as he headed for the door.

("What's happening!")

"No boy, you mustn't go in there." Legolas stopped and looked back at Bilbo questioningly. "Growing her wings is a very painful thing for her, she's changing."

"It's as if she's dieing!" He yelled at the Hobbit.

"She's growing, and it's painful and hard," Bilbo informed him compassionately. Legolas looked back at the door. "That's not your faerie in there right now my boy. She's hurt and in pain, all faeries that lose their wings experience it." Just then, the sound of crashing pottery and yelling arose from the room. The pendant sent a bright red light from between his fingers. These emotions were not for him, there were so many at once. He wondered to himself, how others could live with this kind of emotional confusion. Looking down at the pendant, now a deep red in his hand, he opened the door to the room. When he walked in, both Arwen and her father were on the opposite side of the room as Dyonan.

She sat crouched against the wall, opposite to him. Her clothes were tattered and her sides and back were bloodied. She sat, glaring at him, as if she was to pounce, with eyes that seemed almost black.

"Legolas," her voice came out deep and angry. He took a step towards her and she growled back. "Amin agarwaen, melindo umsina," she crawled towards him with the sleekest of movements.

("I am bloodstained, my love did this,")

"Nan' amin sinta thaliolle e dagor. Lle gurthuva…" Legolas could hardly recognize the creature in front

("But I know your strength in battle. You will die…")

of him.

"Amin ilmern dagora lle, I would never," he defended himself to her. Elrond signaled to his

("I don't want to fight you …")

daughter that they should leave. As the door closed behind them, Dyonan crawled even closer.
