I have never regretted anything as much. I nearly blew her hand clean off. Okay. I admit I've done worse things then permanently maiming someone but that's another story. She was beautiful. A lot of white and black make up but underneath was a face I can't seem to forget. Mesmerising. That's what I did to her. Charmed her into taking the card from my hand. A great escape, non?

I can't take my mind off of him. Not because he nearly blew me up. His eyes. Red on black. His breath warm on my face. His cocky grin. God, I didn't know if I wanted to kill him or kiss him. Felt his fingers brush mine. Looked down to see the Queen of Hearts glowing magenta. Bang! Then he was gone.

"Rogue, like, hurry up!" School. Monday. Morning. Three words that on their own send shivers down my spine, but together make my whole body shudder. I follow Kitty down the hall and into class. We're late but (to paraphrase Kitty), like, who cares? I walk to sit down at the back, in the corner, by the window. People know that is my desk, my territory for brooding and so forth. Marked it out very long ago. However, somebody is already sitting there.

Knew it was her stood over me, didn't even have to look up. "'scuse me but this seat's taken." Didn't know she was a fellow Southerner. Never heard her voice before. Definitely like it though. "Je sais. By moi." I look up and her mouth drops into a perfect O.

No, no, no, no, no! This is not happening. Not only is my favourite seat taken but by him. And he's Cajun. Great voice. Demeanor as cocky as that grin he gave me all that time ago. His eyes are blue. Shame.

"Are you in need of more air or just perfecting your impression of a fish, chere?" That went down well. Never got a look like that off my worst enemies and, trust me, there's plenty to chose from. "Y'all can sit here for now but tomorrow it's mine. Oh, and one more thing, never ever call me chere again." "D'accord. sweet thing."

I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. I want to touch his hair. I sit down next to Kitty. She leans over and says, "Were you and that, like, totally hot guy flirting?" !
