Disclaimer: I own nothing. I don't even own the quote that starts this thing off. All I did was make this thing HP and fictionalize the ending. Actually, I do own some of this, because the premise is my life.
Author's Note: This is set in the same universe as Chasing Rainbows, which actually will be out later today. /blah/ means emphasis
Dedications: To Matthew for being my pseudo- brother and for offering to hate her for me.
I've seen the best men and women of my generation destroyed by the succubus that is Cho Chang. Okay, technically I only know of two, but still, they are the best, and she, their downfall. God help us if she becomes dark, because I swear Harry and Hermione would brand /themselves/ with the dark mark for her.
Hermione was a surprise. I didn't even know that she liked girls for more than a couple of days before I found out that she was in love with Cho. Harry actually got to date her, albeit briefly, during fifth year. She's toyed with his emotions from then on.
Cho and Mione have a wary sort of friendship, built mainly on being the best charms students in their years. Cho is aware of Hermione's sexuality, but not of the fact that /she/ is the object of her affections. This basically creates a situation in which Cho jokes around with Hermione, asking questions about her love life, and I get to watch my best friend/sister go slowly insane. Watching them sometimes, I wonder if Cho feels the same way and just doesn't know how to handle it. She'll flirt with Mione a bit, and then it's like she shuts down, leaving Hermione wondering what went wrong.
With Harry it's just a lot of him spending time with her and buying her things; then her thanking him for them and proceeding to tell him that they still aren't getting back together. It hurts Hermione to watch them together, but that can't be helped, because Harry doesn't know how she feels. Not that I am at all urging her to tell him, because telling your best friend that you are in love with the same woman he is can never lead to good.
How do I feel about being in the middle of all this? I'm a mite stretched thin. All this keeping Cho stories straight (or not, as the case may be) can wear a bloke down. It's okay though. It's only until one of them gets the girl, or gets over the girl, whichever comes first. Now I need to find Hermione; Harry gets out of quidditch practice soon and we're supposed to meet him at the library to study for our potions test tomorrow. She's not in the common room, or the Transfiguration classroom, or any of the half dozen empty classrooms that we use to study in sometimes. Maybe…
Yes! The Charms classroom with Cho. Wow, so that's what Fred was talking about involving Alicia and Katie. Go Hermione!
What am I going to tell Harry?
