Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon. See? [opens wallet and moth flies out, crying 'freedom!] If I did, I'd have money. But I don't. See? Now… off you go, you evil spans of satin! (Lawyers: aww… [leave])
Disclaimer 2: I don't own the song 'runaway train.' The people that wrote it do. That's not me, as you can see, because I have no money. (No I didn't make that rhyme intentionally)
Warnings: Takouji (kind of), Death, Suicide, Shounen ai (kind of).
Author note: Wanna know why I picked this song and this story? Well: Wrong way on a one-way track. Kouji makes the wrong decision in the end.
{cheese monkey heads} = Lyrics.
/sitting on a head/ = italics ( is just to stupid to let them be that way…)
/Ring… Ring…//Ring… Ring…/
{Call you up in the middle of the night}
/Ring… Ring…//Ring… Ring…/
{Like a firefly without a light}
/"Moshi, Moshi."/ /"Takuya?"//"What is it, Kouji-san?"/
/"Can you come over? I… I think I want to kill myself…"/
{You where there like a blowtorch burning}
Takuya was instantly out the door, not even bothering to say good-bye to his parents or his little brother.
{I was a key that could use a little turning}
The brown haired boy turned the key and started up the car. He pulled out of the driveway and headed off down the street. Kouji needed him…
Kouji…
He had been in love with the black haired boy ever since they had been in the digital world. But now they where back, and he had to tell him…
{So tired that I couldn't even sleep}
[Earlier]
Kouji sat, staring out the window. He couldn't sleep. Oh sure, he had tried. For hours he had tried… but he just couldn't seem to go to the peaceful land of dreams.
{So many secrets I couldn't keep}
He hated himself. It wasn't like some childish 'I'm so stupid!' no… He hated his life. Why? Well, it was because he was gay. That's right… he liked guys. And not just any guy… his best friend, Kanbaru Takuya: the straightest guy on the planet.
{I promised myself I wouldn't weep}
He rubbed at his watering eyes, and told himself not to cry. But he couldn't help it.
{One more promise I couldn't keep}
The tears rolled down his face.
{It seems no one can help me now,}
[Present time]
Kouji looked at the dagger sitting on his bed. He had called Takuya and asked him to come over, but what was the use? If Takuya got there, he would have to tell him. If he told, then Takuya would hate him… But if he was dead when Takuya got there, and the brown haired boy found a note…
{I'm in to deep; there's no way out}
The black haired boy picked up the knife and rested it againts his wrist. He took a deep breath, and forced it down. Hard.
{This time I have really led myself astray}
He cursed loudly at the pain, but then smiled wickedly. He had done it… There was no stopping it now. Life wouldn't be able to play cruel games with his head and heart anymore.
Because he wouldn't be in life's grasp.
{Runaway train, never going back}
Takuya cursed in every way he knew at the train that was stalling him. Who had trains going at… he looked at the clock… 1:32 AM anyway!
{Wrong way on a one-way track}
Finally the train was gone, and the bars went up. Something went trough his body, and he slammed on the gas. He didn't care if he was breaking the speed limit, or if a cop caught him. He was wasting time…
Kouji…
{Seems like I should be getting somewhere}
He pulled the car into a turn and slammed on the breaks. It skidded to a stop in front of the street that would take him to Kouji's house…
{Somehow I'm neither here nor there}
To find it blocked off by road construction. He groaned and threw open his door, not bothering to grab the keys. Only a little way… it would take longer to find the back road by car then just run it anyway.
{Can you help me remember how to smile?}
Kouji stumbled into the living room. He didn't care about his father: he wasn't home anyway. The longhaired boy pulled a piece of notebook paper from his backpack. He didn't care that he was getting blood all over everything: He wouldn't be using it the next day anyway.
{Make it somehow all seem worthwhile}
He picked up a dark green pencil from the kitchen counter near the phone, and sat down.
{How on earth did I get so jaded?}
He started to write. He didn't care what, he just let it all come out. Everything… love, lust, loss… it poured out of him like the blood from his wrist.
{Life's mystery seems so faded}
Suddenly the words went blurry, and then it all went black.
{I can go where no one else can go}
Takuya didn't bother with the elevator, and took straight to the stairs. He cursed Kouji's father for not only living in an apartment building, but also on the 13th floor.
{I know what no one else knows}
His eyes suddenly widened and his pace quickened as something shot trough his brain. Kouji… Only 4 more floors to go… Just hang on and don't do anything stupid…
{Here I am just a-drownin' in the rain}
Kouji hit the floor hard, but he couldn't feel it, for he was unconscious. The blood from his wrist began to drip and soaked into the carpet.
{With a ticket for a runaway train}
Takuya threw open the door to the 13th floor, and rushed over to Kouji's apartment: 1312. Had he been looking at the floor behind him, he would have spotted a single piece of paper that read:
Minamoto KoujiOne way
Runaway Train
{And everything seems cut and dried,}
Takuya slammed his fists on the door, but no one was answering. He sucked in his breath, and slammed into the door, while turning the handle. It was unlocked anyway. He fell to the ground and skidded to a stop. Ouch, carpet burn. He then noticed that something wet was under his head.
{Day and night, earth and sky,}
His eyes widened as he looked up, and he let out an ear-piercing scream. But no one heard it.
{Somehow I just don't believe it}
The brown haired boy took Kouji into his arms, and checked for a pulse. It was faint, but there. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around the boy's wrist, before grabbing the portable phone and dialing the hospital.
{Runaway train, never going back}
/Kouji opened his eyes. He was standing in fog, and he could see nothing around him. He blinked, and strained his eyes to see something. Anything./
/"Hey, Kid!"/
{Wrong way on a one-way track}
/The dark haired boy turned around. A man in all black was standing there, and behind him was what looked like a train. Kouji looked around to see if the man was talking to him./
{Seems like I should be getting somewhere}
/"Yeah, Kid. I'm talkin' to you! Ya see anyone else there!"//Kouji looked up at him, confused. "Why am I here?" he asked, looking around and trying to find out where 'here' was./
{Somehow I'm neither here nor there}
/"You're in limbo, kid. Ya' know, you're pretty lucky," the man said, whistling a bit. "Not many people get ta make a choice. But you do. So what will it be?"/
{Bought a ticket for a runaway train}
"Please Kouji… Don't die…"
{Like a madman laughing at the rain}
/"Life or death?"/
{A little out of touch, a little insane}
"I love you, Kouji. I love you."
{It's just easier then dealing with the pain}
/"Death."/
{Runaway train, never going back
Wrong way on a one-way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there}
{Runaway train, never coming back
Runaway train, tearing up the track
Runaway train, burning in my veins
I run away but it always seems the same}
