The Song of Nimrodel

by Le Chat Noir

Sad, sad your song, ô Nimrodel!

Vainly given your tears and plea –

Among stories of old the wastes

            Of love adrift at Sea –

Hear, hear the song of Nimrodel!

The river moans her elegy –

For vessels wrecked and high-sails torn;

            For sailors lost at Sea –

Weep, weep and sing for Nimrodel!

She runs beyond the mellyrn tree –

To join the fierce and last embrace

            Of lovers lost at Sea –
