“Shiranai….. He’s been missing for a while now, ne?” Sakura answered, then struck a dramatic pose. “WHERE ARE YOU, MY SASUKE-CHAAAAAAAAAN!”

The first sweatdropped, as did I. That girl just never gave up on me, did she? You think she’d understand I didn’t like her that way after all this time….

The orange-clad shinobi blinked, turning his gaze in my direction. Narou! I must’ve let my guard slip! I quickly conceal my chakra signature, praying to whatever god that he’d let it pass. It seemed to work, as he shook his head and walked away, knowing better than to interrupt Sakura during one of her fantasies.

I watch you from behind a large boulder as you slowly wade into the warm water of the public hot spring. Funny, you never seemed to be one to do such a thing. I thought you might’ve made a running jump for it, diving into the water with a great splash and probably much cursing as you realized the depth. There’s a reason for the ‘no diving’ sign, you know.

Still, perhaps you didn’t simply because there was no one around to impress. It’s strangely quiet around this time of day; I suppose it’s just that no one bothers to bathe just before dinner, opting to take one after instead. I relish the thought of having you all to myself; just watching you like this is enough for me.

I doubt you’d ever see things eye-to-eye when it comes to this strange infatuation of mine….

You always look so beautiful, almost fragile, when you sleep. It’s the only time I think I ever see the real you. There’s no impish grin upon your heavenly features; no scowl like the one Kakashi-sensei always brings out when he chides you. Just….

You. In all your wondrous glory…. I lean down, my body reacting on its own, and lightly brush my lips to yours. You smile in your sleep, and your eyes begin to flutter open. I hide myself quickly, and you sit up, blinking in a half-conscious state.

Your mind registered what had awoken you a second later, and you bring a hand to those soft, tempting lips of yours. You search wildly around the room, but, as always, I’m one step ahead.

Perhaps next time you’ll sense the shadow peeking over the edge of your roof, ne?
