Author's note- Woo! Another Dudley/Fleur. Albeit a very short one, and this one doesn't say how they got together, either. Don't worry, I'll get to it sooner or later.

Dudley Dursley had grown up knowing he could get whatever he wanted, no questions asked. If it didn't come to him automatically, it would come by force, by money, or his parents would get it for him. first time he saw Fleur he had to ask himself where he'd been living. A thing- a person- as perfect as that didn't come easily. For the he first time in his life, he knew he would have to try.

When Dudley first held Fleur in his arms, he checked to make sure he wasn't dreaming. Nothing can be as perfect as this, he thought. And then he learned that there was no perfect, and that things could get destroyed in an instant. It had hurt to realize that someone as beautiful as Fleur could act so hurtful. It hurt when Fleur lashed out at Dudley, and took out her insecurities on him. Insecurtities he seemed familier with. It took him a long while to realize where he knew these insecurities from- Dudley always wished he was smarter. The ugliness deep inside of Fleur was the same one stinking Dudley inside out. It seemed impossible to Dudley at first, but what was there to do about it, really?

Dudley nearly cried when Fleur admitted she could never be sure if anyone liked her or not; after all, she was a Veela, and what else had she to offer but her looks? Dudley spent his days trying to convince Fleur that it was her wonderful personality he loved more than anything and finally admitted he was always afraid to love because he thought no one could ever be attracted to him. Fleur gapped at him, kissed him and tried to explain just how much she was attracted to him [stranger things have happened]. Dudley explained using food as a friend and violence as an answer, and Fleur rehashed how the Veela charm could be used to get anything she wanted.

Dudley Dursley learned that in a year, a lot of things can happen. In just one year of his life, Dudley learned what the meaning of a freak really was. In a year, he learned how to cook cream cake and how to say what he wanted. He learned that not everything came easily and most importantly, he learned what perfect really was.
