Chapter 10 – Stood Up?

Grace never expected him to be so helpful to her. That sort of this just does not happen! But then, neither did him asking her out…

She was so confused. What had brought about this sudden change in his attitude toward her?

She sat through the rest of her classes, pondering him. By the end of the day, she would see him again. She knew she would. He would stop by her locker. What would he do then? He wouldn't… kiss her, would he? No, no that's ridiculous! That would never happen, and even if it did, she wouldn't let him. If she did, she'd punch him. He would deserve it too. So what would he do?

Before she knew it, she was at her locker, the end of the day buzzing with activity. She could hardly hear herself think over the noise of the other teenagers rushing to go home. She quickly grabbed her homework books and stuffed them in her backpack. She wasn't sure if she wanted to see him again or not.

She had to admit, she did want to see him again.

She shook her head furiously. 'I did not just think that!'

Heaving her backpack up off the ground and swinging it over her shoulder, she slammed her locker door closed. For once, it actually closed when it was supposed to! 'Wow, it's a miracle,' she thought sarcastically.

Looking around her, she was uncertain as to start walking or wait to see if Billy would show up. She assumed he would. He was interested in her, right? So he would want to walk with her and talk to her. Don't guys who liked girls do that sort of thing?

Grace didn't know, as she had never had a boyfriend or had a relationship with a boy, whether friend or 'boyfriend'. How did they think or treat someone they liked in a situation like this?

Gradually, the halls emptied. No one walked past her or gave her a second glace as to why she was standing there alone. She stood there awkwardly, waiting for him to arrive. She tapped her foot nervously and impatiently on the ground.

'Where is he?'

Slowly, it dawned on her.

She cursed under her breath. 'I've been stood up!'
